New June 2026 must-have games

A new month is creeping up on us bringing a plethora of new games and, hopefully, exciting announcements. Compared to its predecessor's selection, the June fixture list leaves something to be desired due to the lack of marquee titles; But a deeper look at the upcoming releases reveals a schedule that promises to consistently deliver great or new games. Well, there might not be one 007 First light or a Forza Horizon 6but the indie scene and AA developers seem primed and ready to pick up the slack in a big way. PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC gamers have a busy few weeks ahead of them.

STARSEEKER: Astronaut Expeditions, UFC 6, Dead or Alive 6 final round, Spaceship, Shift at midnight, Painter of destiny, Densh attack!, BrokenLore: FOLLOW, Killer Beanand Witch's scepter may well turn out to be excellent, and they probably won't rank among June 2026's most anticipated games. For those unfamiliar with the June 2026 game, or wanting guidance on where to start, this article should help you get started.

Solarpunk

June's Cozy Survival Game With Co-OP And Base-Building

With over 70,000 followers on Steam, Solarpunk really managed to capitalize on their Kickstarter and set the stage for what should be a pretty massive debut. Although not Cyberwave's first project, Solarpunk represents a significant leap up in scope from the developer's previous efforts, along with a shift from puzzle-platformer to first-person survival. These days, a new open-world survival game seems to launch every other week, but this June 2026 release stands out for a couple of reasons.

Solarpunk is a cozy survival game in a technologically advanced world of floating islands. Alone or with your friends, you can build buildings, grow food, craft gadgets and explore remote islands with your own airship.

First, a playable demo has been available since February 2025, which shows confidence in the quality of the project. Secondly, Solarpunk appears to be a focused entry into the genre that doesn't try to be everything at once. Crafting and base building take center stage, with the game promising the tools and freedom to create your dream home base. Without fighting at all, Solarpunk is about building and connecting with other survivors who live on their own floating islands, which you can visit with an airship. Finally, Solarpunk launches Day One on Game Pass, making it immediately available to a wide audience.

Gothic 1 Remake

The biggest game of June 2026

Honestly, Gothic 1 Remake should be higher as it is by far the most wishlisted June game coming to Steam. If executed well, Alkimia Interactive's project will be among the best RPGs of 2026, especially given how well the 2001 original's strengths have aged. A polished, cleaner version of Gothic with more satisfying combat sounds incredible, and the demon nails its ancestor's vibe. However, with only part of the game revealed, there is some trepidation as to whether the remake can fully live up to the legacy and reputation of the classic.

Whether you're a seasoned gothic veteran or this is your first time being thrown into the colony, you'll have a true RPG experience with limitless exploration like no other.

For the uninitiated, Gothic takes place in a mining community that effectively functions as a prison, and the player starts out as a nobody at the bottom of the food chain. A deep faction system and realistic NPC routines defined Piranha Byte's original title, two things the remake absolutely had to nail to remotely justify its existence. I'm excited but cautiously so.

Star Fox

Fox McCloud makes his Switch 2 debut with a familiar adventure

Yes, it is Star Fox time again… and again Nintendo retells the same story. Frustrating as the decision to redo Star Fox 64 again is that the return of the franchise deserves to be celebrated, and the upcoming version should use the default control scheme rather than anything Star Fox Zero delivered. The switch to more realistic visuals takes some getting used to, and may be a problem for some people who unequivocally prefer the traditional designs of the characters; still, we need to see how it all looks in action to really know if this art direction is leading anywhere positive.

Step into the cockpit and fly across the stars and skies with Fox McCloud and the Star Fox crew! With the Lylat system under attack by the evil scientist Andross, it's up to you and the squad to fend off his forces.

Other, Star Fox just looks like, well, more Star Fox. As seen in some previous posts, experimenting for the sake of experimenting can result in a game built around a polarizing gimmick that overshadows everything else. Star Fox doesn't need to be reinvented, but it needs to be shown love, care and attention from Nintendo. Hopefully this version got it.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

Square Enix's latest RPG

A new Square Enix game is inherently exciting, and it's doubly so when Claytechworks serves as a co-developer. The latter worked on Bravely Default 2which ended up being a fantastic turn-based RPG; Meanwhile, Square Enix's success rate with HD-2D games is basically 100%. Unlike Octopath Traveler or the one Dragon Quest remakes, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an action RPG rather than turn-based, a refreshing switch that hearkens back to SNES greats like The Secret of Mana, Terranigmaand Illusion of Gaia; real-time battles should work well with this art style.

A brand new action RPG from the creators of OCTOPATH TRAVELER and BRAVELY DEFAULT – The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales combines stunning HD 2D visuals and thrilling action-adventure gameplay for the first time!

Instead of dealing with a party of heroes, Elliot's Adventures revolves around a lonely protagonist, Elliot, and his fairy sidekick, Faie. Although primarily positioned as a single-player experience, the game supports co-op through a system that allows a friend (or a younger sibling) to take care of Faie. While you may not be able to switch between a group of characters, Elliot can use seven types of weapons and five magics, with two of the former equipped at the same time.

Even if they don't feel as special as 2018 when Octopath Traveler launched, HD-2D RPGs are just reliable, delivering a mix of solid gameplay, beautiful visuals, and (usually) great stories. Although I came second, Elliot's Adventures is personally my most anticipated game of June.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

All hell breaks loose made its full debut nearly 5 years ago, and its Steam numbers still routinely reach 8K concurrent players. Simply put, Expression Games created something special with its realistic 50v50 battleground sim. While the original takes place during World War II, the next entry switches things up to the Vietnam War, a conflict defined by jungle warfare and a clash between two very different types of armies.

Enter the explosive conflict of the Vietnam War and fight your way through some of the fiercest clashes in modern history.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam should start with 6 maps and 17 specialized roles, allowing players to decide whether to join the infantry, mortar squad or other units. Battles will not be decided solely on the ground either, as airstrikes and patrol boats also have their part to play. Assuming it hits the ground, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam could very well establish itself as not only the biggest must-have game of June, but also one of the defining releases of 2026.
