Once you've unlocked both extra Hero Slots, the best party line-up comes in TBH: Task Bar Hero is Knight, Rangerand Priest. This configuration may not be the fastest farming party possible, but it gives you a strong mix of survivability, damage and healing.
That makes the Knight, Ranger and Priest well-suited to earning gold, collecting gear and getting into harder stages. It's also a great setup because it doesn't require any paid DLC.
Priest is a free DLC hero, and you must claim her through Steam before she can be distributed. The easiest way to do that is to navigate to the formation menu, select Priest next to “Character” and click the button below her sprite.
Best hero to choose first
Ranger, Knightand Priest are all reasonable starting heroes, although Ranger and Knight are probably the best first options. Ranger is probably the better choice for players who want faster clears and early farming speed, while Knight is a strong choice for players who want a reliable frontline hero from the start.

For example, if you started with Ranger and found a strong Priest gear, then Ranger + Cleric is probably the way to go. If you earned better Knight gear instead, then Ranger + Knight may be the better option.
Assuming you have similar gear for all heroes when you unlock a second Hero Slot, Ranger + Cleric and Knight + Ranger are the strongest early combinations. Ranger + Priest offers strong damage and durability, with Priest helping the party stay alive while Ranger clears enemies. Knight + Ranger is better for players who want a more traditional front line and damage.
Knight + Priest is also viable if you're struggling to survive, although it usually clears slower than Ranger-focused parties. If your party survives but farms slowly, prioritize Ranger. If your party dies too quickly, prioritize Knight or Priest.
Best Farming Party Setup
As noted, Knight, Rangerand Priest may not be the absolute fastest farming party setup. If you want to complete easier stages faster, try a more offensive one Ranger, Priestand Wizard party, with the priest placed at the front if she can survive.
If that configuration is struggling to stay alive or take harder steps, swap the Sorcerer for the Knight. This gives you a simple rule to follow: use Knight when you need stability, and use Sorcerer when you are already survivable and want more damage.
If your party is dying, add Knight or improve your front line. If your party survives easily but clears slowly, add more damage.
Are paid DLC Heroes worth it?
Hunter and Slayer have their uses, but you don't need them to build a reliable early party. Knight, Ranger, and Priest are perfectly capable of evolving, farming, and utilizing the second and third Hero Slots.
If you decide to buy DLC Heroes, you might want to try pairing Slayer with Priest and using her Heal to keep the damage dealer alive. You can also try Hunter in damage focused parties, although it may feel unnecessary after using Ranger and Sorcerer.
For players who don't want to spend money, the safest recommendation is simple: get the free Priest DLC and then build around it Knight, Rangerand Priest.
How to change your party formation
To change your party formation, open the hero menu and select Formation Tab. From there you can unlock new heroes, deploy them in open Hero Slots and change their positions.
