Honey is a valuable material in Romestead. You can sell it, or use it to produce mead, which is one of the best healing items in the game. To actually start producing your own honey, however, you need a few moving parts first: first you have to find a queen bee, then you have to craft a beehive at the carpenter, and then craft honey at the bakery.
This guide covers all parts of the equation, from finding the bee in the wild to getting the necessary recipes to produce honey and mead.
Where to find a queen bee
Queen Bees can be found on large, fallen logs in the wild. There are two types of fallen logs: logs with hidden chests inside, and logs that will drop a queen. The logs with a queen bee inside often look like they are covered in honey and flowers. Just walk up to it, destroy it with your weapon and collect the bee.
These logs are most commonly found in the forested biome surrounding the plains, where you will have started the game.
How to build a beehive
Once you have your queen ready to go, you can construct your first hive to start producing honeycombwhich can later be turned into honey at the bakery.
The recipe for beehives must be it unlocked via leveling Ceres by donating a range of harvested goods. When you get to level one you can unlock the hive recipe for a worship point.
This means that the Carpenter can now construct a hive, which requires:
-
10 planks
-
1 Queen Bee
-
5 Wheat
Then you can place the hive, and it will automatically produce a honeycomb over time.
How to make honey
Now you have got some honeycomb, you can take it to the bakery to produce honey. Each honey costs three wax cakes. You can produce uploading this pretty fast if you start piling up several hives.
