It's been about a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 launched into the open arms of the gaming world, and since then we've been treated to countless amazing games that look and feel so good on fresh yet familiar hardware. But as it is with the world of gaming, no matter how many great titles are released, there always seem to be more on the way, and in June alone we'll see quite a few incredible games, both from existing franchises and brand new IPs.

2026 Video Game Release Date Calendar
From remakes to new titles, 2026 looks set to be a blockbuster year in gaming.
It feels like yesterday that the original Switch launched, and as an early adopter myself, I've always loved the platform for its dedication to comfort and game selection that has allowed it to be at the top of the industry for so long. Now, nearly a decade later, we're seeing that success continue, with a series of new releases that will tick all the boxes for players of all shapes and sizes.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.

The long-awaited return

Full remake of Starfox 64
Star Fox returns to Nintendo's lineup this June with a new entry focused on cinematic space combat, branching mission routes, and large-scale planetary battles. The franchise has been fairly quiet over the past decade, with the most recent entry, Zero, appears on the Wii U, but that doesn't mean dying fans have forgotten about the sly and crafty pilot that once dominated the on-rails shooter genre.
I, along with many others, was quite surprised by the new visual approach which looks to take Fox and the rest of his pals into much higher fidelity territory, but there's something about seeing and hearing that voice that still manages to get me excited for change. Whether you're craving the bigger encounters, the tighter environments, or just to play as Fox again, I can promise that June will bring a whole new addiction for you to sink your teeth into.

Both solo and multiplayer modes for all playstyles
Soccer/Football games have been around with practically every console generation, and one of the biggest names in that area used to be PES. Now renamed to e-footballplayers will get to experience the game firsthand on their Switch 2, with upgraded graphics and expanded online features ensuring there are more ways to play for veterans and newcomers alike.

5 Upcoming Open-World Games That Sound Too Good To Be True
Meet some of the most ambitious and promising open-world games coming out in the next few years that could become new standards for the genre.
The biggest difference this time comes from the modes. Not only are there chances to compete on the international stage with a custom created team, but there are also chances to play against others and even turn up the intensity with 6v6 matches that will bring more goals and more opportunities to showcase those ball skills. I've always loved playing with friends in football matches, and now that I can do it on the go with the Switch 2, I'm really going to take it up and chart my course to the top.

The Adventures Of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
A brand new RPG adventure

Price: $59.99

Release date: June 18, 2026

Beautiful HD-2D real-time combat
The RPG space has grown a lot in recent years, and now we're about to get another epic adventure. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales represents modern HD-2D design, replacing turn-based gameplay with real-time combat, while retaining all the charm and feel of a more classic title from the early days of the genre.
The titular character takes center stage, and players will get to spend a lot of time in their boots, as opposed to having multiple protagonists to switch between on the fly. I've become more invested in this world of HD-2D gaming over the past few years, and I'm really excited for something new to try, and judging by Square's track record, it's almost certainly going to stick.

Unrailed 2: Back on Track
Bring back a sofa Co-op icon
Details:
-
Price: $19.99
-
Release date: June 11, 2026
-
Procedurally generated insanity with a lot of replay value
Unrailed 2: Back on Track expands on the original's cooperative survival formula with larger, upgraded biomes and more elaborate resource management systems that should test even the best of friendships to their absolute limit. Teams must quickly build and maintain railroad tracks while navigating procedural disasters and environmental hazards, along with some pretty nasty bosses looking to poke holes in the team's otherwise stable plan.
The first game gave me so many hours of fun, and it always felt like the logical co-op game for party nights, especially among non-gamers. This time, with a full-scale level editor and a host of new barriers to conquer, I'm dying to jump on the tracks and get the adventure started.

Solarpunk
Takes to heaven
Details:
-
Price: $22.99
-
Release date: June 8, 2026
-
Cozy survival game with a focus on aerial exploration
Solarpunk takes the survival crafting genre in a more upbeat direction, replacing intensive resource management with a cozier approach full of color and life. It's all about renewable energy systems and traversing the floating environment, not to stay alive, but for the sheer joy and freedom that comes from feeling weightless.

Upcoming RPGs that people are excited about
While many RPGs have been announced for 2026 and beyond, these upcoming RPGs are particularly exciting.
I was immediately drawn to the game purely because of the aesthetic and the lack of restrictions on how or why to play the game. You can create a large village base or go out and explore as much as you like, and I, for one, will find a balance between the two, traveling out into the horizon without a care in the world and then coming back home to watch the sun rise over my beautiful creations.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
The next step in the story
Details:
-
Price: $49.99
-
Release date: June 3, 2026
-
Faithful yet new direction from the original
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of the biggest names in the RPG space, and now that it's coming to Switch 2, the revival story can continue to blossom on a much wider playing field. One of the big draws comes from the upgraded power of the new unit, which, given how large and graphically intensive many of the regions are, should give players the epic fantasy experience they love and deserve.
The visuals are truly stunning, and as a late adopter of FF universe, I'm glad I get to enjoy such a great story in a much more cinematic form, like many other players who may have missed the original game's release. It's a faithful yet fresh iteration of Cloud's iconic story and the final stop before the trilogy concludes in just a few years.

Say hello to the next 5 great single player games
Forget multiplayer, single player is where it's at. 2026 has already produced a couple of big names, but the year is still very young.
