When you start 007 First lightyou immediately see that you can use 3/4 Gadget Slots. While you're one slot down, that doesn't mean you can't do it all. In fact, it's possible to complete all challenges with just the default watch (which you can't remove). But who would say no to more gadgets?

How to unlock the 4th gadget slot in 007 First Light

The The 4th Gadget Slot is unlocked towards the end of Mission 7: Knightfall.
Unfortunately, you'll have to be patient if you want the 4th Gadget Slot, as it's not tied to a secret mission or any upgrades through TacSim. Instead, it's just about play through the main missions until you reach Knightfalland even then you have to get close to the end of the mission to get it.
This isn't a missed upgrade, and it's part of the mission itself, and you'll know it when you see it (and we won't tell you what it means, because we want to avoid spoilers). With the 4th gadget slot acquired, every time you choose your loadout from this point on, you can equip a total of 4 gadgets (including Q-Watchwhich cannot be deleted).
