Solarpunk is no different, as obstacles are even more difficult to overcome with just a team of two. Fortunately, after several delays, this colorful, feature-packed open-world game is about to launch, and it looks like it's going to have tons of content. You will be thrown onto a series of floating islands and given the freedom to build the farm life of their dreams. From there you can build buildings, plant farms, farm wildlife, craft gadgets and explore the islands, managing energy as you go.
For those who love building houses in video games, Solarpunk seems like a joy. The game's fantastic lighting not only highlights the textures in vivid detail, but with a lot of decoration options and materials to craft with, there can be a lot of variety in the design. The agricultural system seems equally complex; animals will actually reward you if they are treated well, with an example of how contented pigs will dig up truffles. Fruits and vegetables that you grow yourself will be the key to survival, and automation is possible so that you have more time to explore. Transport drones can collect and deliver resources, rewarding anyone who plans carefully.
However, these machines will require power to operate, with the collection and management of said energy reminiscent of the many Steam automation games. You have two options for energy – wind and solar – and you need to plan ahead because both of these sources will not be viable 24/7. At night, wind will be more useful, with solar amounts similarly depending on the time of day. Fortunately, you can store this energy in batteries if you have a surplus, and use them when neither option produces enough energy for what your base requires.
Imagine Valheim's boats, but in the sky
One of the highlights of Valheim sailing the sea and exploring. Obviously, a game set on a floating island cluster won't be full of seas to cross, but developer Cyberwave still offers ship lovers an exciting way to travel. Fans of Final Fantasys airships will be delighted to see such a thing in the Solarpunkallowing players to zoom between trees and across great distances to reach new islands with different resources and tools. Regardless of whether you want to build as a group or on your own, it seems Solarpunk will offer a lot of content to discover and enjoy.
