Splitgate Studio Officially Announces Titanfall-like Game Empulse

After a rather tumultuous year for Splitgate developer 1047 Games, the team has announced their next project, Impulsea fast-paced action shooter inspired by Titanfall. This announcement comes after a series of rumors and leaks suggesting that Splitgate the team moved away The arena reloads and is working on a parkour-centric, mech-based FPS.

Split Gate 2The launch received a negative reception, with many in the community citing expensive microtransactions and undercooked features as weak points in an otherwise solid game. Eventually, the problems with the shooter were enough to keep it from being launched back into beta, resulting in several layoffs at 1047 Games before the game was changed to Splitgate: Arena reloads. Recently, leaks have suggested that the developer had started working on an FPS with mechanics inspired by Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall series.

The team behind Splitgate, also known as 1047 Games, may be working on what appears to be a spiritual successor to Titanfall.

Splitgate Studios' upcoming FPS is a Titanfall-inspired Movement Shooter

With leaks and rumors doing the rounds online, 1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx has now publicly announced the studio's next game, Impulsea 6v6 arcade shooter where fans can expect to shoot, grapple and run around competitive arenas much like Titanfall. The announcement comes from an interview with Polygon, where Proulx goes into detail about the game and notes that mechs are not earned in Impulse the same way they are on Titanfall. Instead, they are treated as power weapons that players fight over, like rocket launchers Halo. Proulx further states that Impulses main attraction is its movement, which is similar to that found in games like Titanfall 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2and SSX Tricky.

Don't just do it Impulse taking inspiration from some of the most acclaimed shooters of the last ten years, but it also reportedly builds on Portals paint mechanic to create a fun new way to navigate the game's arenas. Players will be able to chain PAINT bombs around multiple surfaces to gain momentum or create jump boosts to create a “never standing still” experience. 1047 intends to create a new motion shooter that does away with the genre's typical jump pads in favor of a more free-flowing system. Later in the interview, Proulx describes it Impulse has been in development since 2025 and is the current focus of 1047 Games, although the studio still intends to support Splitgate: Arena reloads in the near future.

Impulses store page is currently live on Steam, and 1047 Games has stated that the game will be released into early access in 2026, which fans can sign up for on the official website. Additionally, the team will host an AMA on Reddit on May 21, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. PT to answer any fan questions about Impulse now that the studio has gone public with the game's existence. It might not be Titanfall 3 fans have been asking for, but hopefully it's coming close.

It's been a tough time for new live service games to be released in such a competitive market. Harmony and Highguard was released only to be pulled from the market within weeks due to player sentiment and sales, while 1047 Games is also no stranger to launching a game, having it underperform, and then struggling to pick up the pieces. Splitgate: Arena reloads may have been a bit of a disappointment to the community, but hopefully, Impulsee could be the return to form the team is looking for. Players have longed for it Titanfall to come back somehow, and perhaps 1047 Games' upcoming arena shooter can fill that niche nicely. Regardless of what happens, CEO Ian Proulx notes that 1047 Games more grounded vision for Impulse is not to sell a million copies but to create something the team is proud of in collaboration with the community.
