Singularity 6s Palia has welcomed mounts into its charming life sim, and fans can't get enough of them already. Now players can take strongholds to the corners of three beautiful maps and save themselves the effort. That said, horses are the only mounts available at the moment, which may change in the future. How to get Horseshoes in Palia
Currently there are three horse mounts in Palia: Dawnspur, Akwindu Thoroughbred and Phoenixfire Dawnspur. You can get the first one by doing a quick quest, while the other two require real money purchases. However, once you unlock these three breeds, you can purchase similar ones from the Ranching Store with gold coins. Here is a summary of the acquisition method for each race:
Unlock Dawnspur Breed (Before the Dawn Quest Walkthrough)
Dawnspur is the free horse you get in this magical game, although you still have to complete the Before the Dawn quest to get it. Thankfully, this quest can be easily started in the Royal Highlands, and you don't need to keep up with the main story to do it and own your first mount.
To complete the Before the Dawn quest in Paliajust follow these steps:
- First, only into the Royal Highlands.
- Talk to Hassian, who is on the west side of Lonely Glen. Too easy to find, just continue west from the entrance gate (Lochland Dock), and you'll see him standing near a horse stuck in an amber prison (glowing golden ores).
- Use any tool to break the amber prison knots around the horse. Press R to access your primary tool's inventory and equip any bow, then hit the nodes repeatedly until they split.
- Collect any three local flowers in the Royal Highlands and interact with Hassian again. This will trigger a cutscene where you appear to feed the horse, ending the Before the Dawn quest and giving you the Dawnspur mount in Palia.
We used a makeshift bow to break the amber prison around the Dawnspur, and it took us nine shots to completely free the hold. The number of shots may vary depending on the type of bow and arrows you use. We also fed the Mountain Dawnspur Lily and Royal Heather, as they are among the most common flora found in Lonely Glen and are easy to collect.

Unlock Akwindu thoroughbred breed
Akwindu Thoroughbred is an Arabian horse breed that can only be obtained by purchasing one of these two premium packs from the store:
- Highlands Supporter Pack ($29.99)
- Royal Highlands Supporter Pack ($59.99)
If you're curious about which one offers better value, we think the second package is definitely the better choice, even if it's a bit more expensive.
Not only does it give you the license to raise Akwindu Thoroughbred mounts through the Ranching system, but it also includes a special version of the horse with an electric VFX feature (along with other perks included in the package). This can lead to even neater assemblies later on. That said, you can still develop traits on the standard version as well, although of course it takes more time and effort.
Unlock Phoenixfire Dawnspur Breed
One of the most impressive mounts in Palia is Phoenixfire Dawnspur. To get it, you need to buy one of these paid packages from the store:
- Phoenixfire Riding License (2,550 Palia Coins)
- Phoenixfire Dawnspur Starter Bundle (2,975 Palia Coins)
Palia Coins are the game's premium currency, which you can also buy from the store. The first bundle gives you the special mount plus an Insta-Grow cookie, which helps it grow from juvenile to adult faster, so you can run it sooner. The second bundle lets you get more of these horses from the Ranching Store, and also gives you a Phoenixfire Dawnspur with an Alabaster Flame trait, which changes how it looks. The exact appearance you get is random.
You can only ranch mounts whose breeds you have already acquired.

How to ride horseshoes in Palia
Horses have two main stats: speed and stamina. Speed controls how fast or slow they run and has six levels. Also, they don't have unlimited stamina. The mounts will tire and stop moving. You can restore their stamina by collecting golden glowing orbs while riding.
Now this is how you ride mounts Palia:

Press R and select the mounting slot from the wheel for primary tools to call your horse. When it appears, you will run it automatically.

Press W (or Up Arrow) to move forward. Press it more times to make the horse go faster.

Press S (or Down Arrow) to slow down or stop.

Press Space to jump If that doesn't work, you can set the jump key in the settings (Control Settings > Keybinding > General Game > Jump/Glide).

Press X to get off the horse.
Players can change their mount control keys in Keybinding under Control Settings. They can also adjust camera movement as you ride and mount background movement options in the Settings menu.
How to change horseshoes in Palia
When you get your first Dawnspur via the quest, it will automatically appear in one of your primary tool slots. But if you want to trade it for one you bought or reproduced at the ranch, you can definitely do that. To replace your horse mount Paliajust do this:
- Go to Collections from the Inventory menu (or press Y).
- Jump into the saddle icon (sixth in the row).
- Equip your desired mount.
Remember that you can only equip mounts that are adults or older. Baby mounts don't appear in the saddle icon until you either feed them Insta-Grow Cookies or wait for them to grow up.
