One Piece Creator Eiichiro Oda officially unveils a new Legendary Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit

Devil Fruits serve as the primary power system in the world of One Pieceand Eiichiro Oda, the author of the series, is constantly expanding on them by introducing one new ability after another. One Piece Officially released on May 10, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 24, Chapter 1182 officially confirmed a new legendary Devil Fruit ability for fans.

As has been the theme of the Final Saga thus far, this new Devil Fruit ability also belongs to the Mythical Zoan class, which has officially been stated to be the rarest class of all in chapter 554 of the series. Despite being so rare, Eiichiro Oda has finally revealed the power of yet another legendary Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit in the form of Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr.

One Piece Chapter 1182 covered various events in Elbaph, and it began with the battle between Saint Nerona Imu, the King of the World who descended upon the land in Chapter 1179, and Prince Loki. Along with Prince Loki is his beloved Ragnir, who fights side by side with him all the time. Ragnir is an ally not only of Loki but the ancient God of War, which was officially introduced in One Piece Chapter 1175 on March 2, 2026.

According to Jarul, Elbaph's stories mention the existence of a certain war god. This god of war had the ability to transform into the giant dragon Nidhoggr and had at his side the ice squirrel known as Ratatoskr. Together, the two fought against the Sun God of the World. When Elbaf's god of war died, Ratatoskr then possessed his beloved hammer and came to be known as Ragnir. In One Piece Chapter 1182, it was officially confirmed Ragnir ate Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr. This mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit is officially said to be legendary in nature and possess the power of the fabled Ice Squirrel. As a mythical zoan, this fruit offers immense physical capabilities and durability, as well as the ability to manipulate ice.

Inanimate objects can also be fed Devil Fruits. After the death of Elbaph's God of War, Ratatoskr's soul was somehow transferred inside Ragnir, giving it the characteristics of the Arctic Squirrel, making it a Devil Fruit user. This likely happened at the end of the Void Century, given that it has been officially stated in the story that Ragnir has guarded the legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaph for centuries.

Ragnir stayed inside Aurust's castle, preventing anyone from consuming this Devil Fruit ability. Even strong individuals, such as Harald, Jarul and all those before them, were denied by Ragnir. But 14 years ago, when the Ice Squirrel fought Prince Loki for the very first time, it knew he was the one destined to eat the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr. Zoan fruits usually have overwhelming strength, resistance, recovery rate, and defensive ability. The fact that this is a Mythical Zoan means that all of these abilities are shot through the roof. This also means that Ragnir's overall defense is further boosted due to the very nature of this Devil Fruit ability. Just like all other mythical fruits, Risu Risu no Mi, Model: Ratatoskr also offers a special ability. In this case, the fruit has given it the power to produce ice.
