Crimson Desert teases next big update and new extraction feature

The arrival of the next major Crimson Desert The update is imminent and developer Pearl Abyss teased some of the new features in the patch, including a new extraction feature. Then Crimson Desert Launched in March, Pearl Abyss has continued to be busy keeping the game updated and fixing bugs, while adding new features and introducing more quality of life improvements.

Needless to say, the rapid fire support has proven to be a big hit with players, with the positive word of mouth likely contributing to the game's sales as well. What may be surprising is that all these updates and content additions have been done without a dedicated one Crimson Desert roadmap after launch, a fact that Pearl Abyss has said is intentional. Instead of making assumptions about what players want or sticking to specific dates, Pearl Abyss instead decided to listen to players through feedback as well as how they played the game.

As fans wait for the next big content reveal, Pearl Abyss is teasing the next big update for Crimson Desert. In a new tweet, the studio shared some new information, confirming that the update would be coming in “the next few days.” As for what it will contain, the tweet indicated that it adds new special mounts to the game, to go along with ones that players can already get like the Polar Bear or the Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex in Crimson Desert.

However, that's not all in store for players as Pearl Abyss also teased a special extraction feature that will also launch inside this update, although it's not related or a reference to the popular game genre in any way. While a bit light on details, the tweet indicated that this feature will allow players to restore materials used during the upgrade and refinement process in Crimson Desert. Unfortunately, it is not yet known how this works or what kind of refund players can expect during this process.

At the time of writing, it's been less than a week since the last major update for Crimson Desert launched with some major new content additions. Again, in response to player feedback, the May 1st update added Rematch and Re-block options. The former is basically a way for players to challenge defeated bosses again, either as they were at the time or with the Resonate option which scales the enemy to the player's level. Any consumables used during the rematch are also refunded after the battle, but for this launch version players will not be able to earn loot, although Pearl Abyss is open to changing this down the road.

Additionally, reblock was added to fix an issue that endgame players have encountered where they have cleared most of the map, preventing enemies from respawning. Obviously, with no enemies to fight, players found it nearly impossible to complete challenges, acquire loot, and continue to develop their characters. With reblock, players now have options to deal with this situation, leave it as it is, or revive enemies either slowly or more often. At the time of the update, only 23 forts and quarries were included, but Pearl Abyss has confirmed that they intend to continue expanding this feature in the future.
