Today is a sad day for GTA 6 fans

Today, May 6, 2026, marks an unfortunate milestone for Grand Theft Auto 6 community, as it has officially been 365 days since Rockstar Games shared something important about their highly anticipated title. While tidbits of information regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 has been shared by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick for the past few months, developer Rockstar Games has been tight-lipped about its next release, with no new trailers, screenshots or information shared for an entire year now.

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been excruciatingly long. Not only has it been almost three years since Rockstar released the very first trailer for the next one GTA game, but it's been 13 years since the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA online. The two titles have been huge successes, with the latter becoming one of the most popular live service titles of all time. Grand Theft Auto 5s success, on the other hand, has been helped by many reissues over the years. Although originally a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title, GTA 5 has since launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with plenty of visual upgrades coming with each re-release.

It's officially been a whole year without any GTA 6 news

To make matters worse, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed several times over the past three years, making the wait even longer. The title is currently scheduled to launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026, except there are no further delays. But with the game now less than 200 days away, many are eager to see more. As of today, May 6, 2026, it has officially been one year since Rockstar Games shared anything substantial about Grand Theft Auto 6. The game's second trailer premiered on May 6, 2025, along with tons of new screenshots and a new website details GTA 6s places and characters.

Although an incredibly long 365 days have passed since then Grand Theft Auto 6s second trailer was released, this isn't even the longest Rockstar has left fans in the dark. In comparison, the waiting time between Trailer 1 and 2 was a total of 519 days, which is one year, five months and two days. Thankfully, the wait for Trailer 3 shouldn't be much longer, with some even speculating that it could arrive as soon as this month.

Take-Two Interactive, which is the parent company of Rockstar Games, has officially scheduled its next quarterly earnings call for May 21, 2026. While it's not a guarantee, Rockstar has been known to share trailers, screenshots, or new details about its upcoming titles around the same time as one of these earnings calls, in an effort to boost its stock and please investors. Considering it's now been a full year since Trailer 2, the month of May seems like the perfect time to share a third trailer for GTA 6 or possibly some additional screenshots.

That said, not everyone is convinced that another trailer will arrive this month. Strauss Zelnick has already confirmed that marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6 will start during the summer, which technically starts at the end of June. The CEO also went on record recently doubling down on the game's marketing plans, saying it will begin “soon.” Whether Rockstar is waiting for the full marketing campaign to begin before sharing Trailer 3, or if they intend to share it a bit earlier, remains a mystery.
