One Piece's The Elbaph Arc has greatly expanded the ability of the God Devil Fruit during its one and a half year run. The very first God Devil Fruit ability revealed in the Elbaph Arc came in Chapter 1175, thanks to the official reveal of the Nidhoggr ability. This legendary Devil Fruit was guarded in Elbaph for centuries and was last used around the same time as the Void Century, according to Imus' statements in Chapter 1181.

According to Elder Jarul, Elbaph has a legend about a warrior god that existed in the land several hundred years ago. This warrior god had the power to transform into a giant black dragon, and long ago also fought the sun god Nika. After the death of the warrior god, Ratatoskr guarded the Devil Fruit by reincarnating inside the Iron Lightning Hammer, also known as Ragnir. Now this power is wielded by none other than Loki, making him the wielder of an official god ability and the next warrior god from Elbaph.

In Elbaph we have a legend of a warrior god. He used a weapon known as Ragnir – Iron Lightning – and transformed into a huge dragon to face the sun god Nika. He fought alongside his trusty, loyal ice squirrel known as Ratatoskr. — Elder Jarul, One Piece Chapter 1175

In chapter 1179 of One Piecewhich was officially released on Manga Plus on April 6, 2026, Eiichiro Oda revealed another god-level Devil Fruit ability with the descent of Nerona Imu in the Elbaph arc. This ability is known as Akuma no Mi, or The Devil's Fruit. With the power of this fruit, Nerona Imu can transform into the devil himself, and this ability precedes all other Devil Fruit powers found in the world of One Piece. Unlike the other abilities, whose names are written in Kanji, Nerona Imus Akuma no Mi uses strict katakana, meaning that the name of the Devil Fruit actually represents the ability itself, and is much more special and possesses powers that are at a much higher level. As the king of the world, Nerona Imu has used this god ability to dominate the world for centuries.

Monkey D. Luffy Sun God Nika Devil Fruit in One Piece Chapter 1044

While Loki and Imu hold two Devil Fruits that offer a God's power, the first of them all came in One Piece chapter 1044, thanks to Sun God Nika's revelation. In this chapter, Monkey D. Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika officially woke up.

Is he the hero who appeared to save the world from disaster? The destroyer who destroys everyone? He appears when the world is about to undergo a great transformation!! Therefore, the great and mighty of the day always fear Nika's arrival! — Jarul, One Piece chapter 1136

This Devil Fruit then allowed him to transform into the Warrior of Liberation, a being known throughout the world as either a God of Destruction, a God of Liberation, or even a God of Laughter, as confirmed in One Piece chapter 1036. Thanks to Luffy's awakening of this power, he is also a God in the One Piece world.

In fact, Luffy's role in the story is such that he is likely the most important god in the entire series and one who will bring about a great upheaval and change the era, as Harley foretold in chapter 1138 of the story. Oddly enough, regardless of holding the power of a God, Luffy couldn't care less about the Sun God Nika and what it means to have this divine power. Luffy continues to be his own person, and that will never change in One Piece, despite the incredibly high stakes of the final saga and the thrilling battle against the likes of Nerona Imu, along with other titanic disasters like Loki.
