Oblivion Remastered Main Quest completion rate is still low after one year

I think it's safe to say that few of us play Bethesda games for the main story. Usually the move is just to run around, explore the map, beat some side quests and become the boss of every faction in the game.

This is even more true for Oblivion Remastered. Many would have beaten the story way back when, probably when they were kids playing on console without mods. So when we got the big shiny remaster, many of us wanted to see the new and improved Cyrodiil, but not necessarily save it from the Oblivion Crisis.

Most of us ignored Oblivion Remastered's main story and focused on the Guild Questlines instead

A year after launch, performance statistics for Oblivion Remastered give us some insight into player habits.

On PC, only 7.9 percent of players have the Champion of Cyrodiil achievement, which you get for beating the main story. Granted, this is probably a bit lower since PC players are likely playing with mods or using console commands, which will lock you out of achievements unless you get another mod to reverse it, but the stats aren't much better on other platforms.

On Xbox, only 13 percent of players have Champion of Cyrodiil unlocked, and the figure is only slightly higher on PlayStation, at 14.9 percent.

In comparison, the guild quests tend to have a much higher completion rate across platforms. In fact, on console and PC, the Arena questline has the highest completion rate of them all, with The Dark Brotherhood often second.

Of course, the fact that many players dropped out shortly after launch likely contributes to the low completion rate of the main story. Maybe if we got another update that gave us some much needed performance improvements, people would be more inclined to see the game through to the end. As it stands, Oblivion Remastered is hardly in the best of shape.
