In case you missed it, Pokemon is celebrating its massive 30th anniversary this year. This means that beyond the usual video games and trading cards, everyone and their mother has some kind of collaboration with the brand, often with merchandise or collectibles.
Uniqlo kicked things off and resurrected “Fat Pikachu” from the underworld for their collaboration, while Stern Pinball, a maker of luxury pinball machines, makes some pretty high-end and expensive pinball cabinets.

Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Kicking It Old School With Local Co-Op Shops Made Me Realize I Only Have Online Gaming Friends
GameFreak is sending me down memory lane by forcing me to beg for local Pokemon stores.
For its part, US retailer Target has just released its big collection, which includes everything from clothing to collectible cups to themed Pop-Tarts. Unfortunately, if you are now reading this article, the majority of the “cool” stuff has sold out, and in the case of Pop-Tarts, is now being scaled on eBay.
Yes, you read that right. A box of Pop-Tarts is now suddenly an overpriced collector's item.
Hope you weren't planning on buying Pokemon Pop-Tarts
On Target's website, the limited edition Pokémon x Pop-Tarts treats retail for $2.99. It has since sold out. Fear not, as the majority of stock has naturally made its way to eBay.
On eBay, there's no shortage of boxes of Pop-Tarts looking for a new home, albeit at prices that will make you laugh.
Such a person tries to sell four boxes for $100, plus shipping. Another, for $79.99.
Of course, not everyone is as unrealistic as these guys, with some listings as low as $12.95 and free shipping. Low is being generous, considering these ended up selling for $2.99.
Which begs the question – What's the point? Say the person is selling it for 12.95. They still have to shell out for shipping and handling, gas and time to drop it off, and that's not even counting eBay fees, which are way higher than they used to be.
According to an eBay fee calculator, at $12.95, with an estimated shipping cost of just under $5, plus the original item cost of $2.99 and eBay's own cut, you're looking at a total profit of … $3.06.
I'm no mathematician, but that's not good.
Also, these are just some regular Pop-Tarts with Pikachu on the packaging. There is literally, and I mean literally, nothing special about them. When Pokemon and Pop-Tarts first collaborated, the pastries featured Pokemon-themed sprinkles.
These do not.
If this is how the Pop-Tarts collaboration goes, then I shudder to think of the state of affairs when Pokemon and Heinz Ketchup meet, which has been teased.
