Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 27 Preview: The Power of Math

The Dr. Stone anime is in its final phase, and it really feels that way as the anime marches through the Spring 2026 anime season. Almost all of Senku's human enemies, from Hyoga and Tsukasa Shishio to Kirisame and Stanley Snider, have either been won over as allies or locked in stone. With no immediate physical threats, Senku Ishigami finally gets what he wants: a true sandbox adventure where science and growth matter above all else.

This is the Stone Age life that Senku has dreamed of, and he doesn't waste a single minute of it, not with Ryusui and Dr. Xeno supporting him. Episode 26 made this clear when Senku sailed aboard New Perseus wandering the world in his spare time, and the upcoming episode 27 should be more of the same. The upcoming episode, “The Universe is Written in the Language of Mathematics,” should crank all of this up to 11 as the Spanish tourism phase ends and Senku prepares to meet another preacher whose skills can only rival his own.

The last pieces of the Kingdom of Science will fall into place

Senku is almost done stealing the world's finest talent

The relative lack of conflict is the dominant narrative in this phase of Dr. Stone as the unfettered joy of scientific discovery revels in the freedom it always wanted. Usually shonen leads are in constant danger until the very end when they defeat the forces of evil, such as Deku's final triumph over Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia or Tanjiro defeating Muzan in Demon Slayerbut Dr. Stone works differently. Broadly speaking, this is really a bubbly action/adventure title where conflict, growth and the power of friendship are the cornerstones, but Senku isn't trying to defeat a demon king.

That's why the last handful of episodes in Dr. Stone is more like a business trip than a fight to save the world. It's true that the creepy, passively antagonistic Why-Man still lingers on the moon beyond Senkus' reach, but that's not an immediate problem. Instead, Senku does what he always wanted: to revive people and put them to work in an age of peace and cooperation. At this point Dr. StoneSenku's army of friends has covered most of the necessary roles, such as Kaseki the craftsman, Tsukasa the bodyguard, and Joel the watchmaker. So the next episode will fill a critical gap for a certain mission to round things off.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun gets Iruma's class fired up for an impossible challenge

Kerori's daring challenge pushes Iruma-kun's Abnormal Class to grow in new ways, setting the stage for an epic music festival.

Senku's industrial base is nearly complete, meaning he can demand even more from future recruits to the Kingdom of Science. Example: Senkus and Dr. Xenos shared lunar mission. Blasting off towards Earth's natural satellite is the challenge of a lifetime, no matter the century, and Senku needs more than watchmakers or cartographers to get it done. Saw Senku's crew aboard New Perseus is headed straight for India, a subcontinent home to some of the world's most advanced math programs. It is not yet certain who the math genius will be, but that person will be crucial to Senku's current needs.

Science is firmly rooted in mathematics, although Chrome was unaware of it as the curious “wizard” of Ishigami Village in the pre-Senku era. Senku and Dr. Of course, Xeno is pretty good with math already, so if Senku needs a math expert for the team, that says a lot. Most likely, this will involve fields such as rocket science, astrophysics and even computing to make the moon landing a reality. The power of STEM is about to reach its peak, right there in the jungles of India.

In this era of Senku's adventures, Dr. Stone anime has a very unusual story for a shonen anime: no one fights. Normally this would mean that the story has stopped, and that would certainly be the case in a title like Jujutsu Kaisen or Chainsaw man. However, Dr. Stone is only partly a shonen action anime, because it is also a shonen adventure anime, focuses more on the growth aspect of shonen than the conflict. Or at least, the conflict between human and human is over, as Senku and Dr. Xeno still faces a gigantic conundrum between man and nature.

Senku only “fights” in the sense that he's doing an impressive mission that can take years to finish, even if it works as intended. Even for him, and even with Dr. Xeno's help in Superalloy City, launching a rocket to the moon and landing is no easy feat. The real suspense here is how and when Senku will pull this off, a meaningful story that no human vs. human needs to accomplish. This is rare in shonen, with this entire arc feeling like a training montage with no physical threats on the horizon. Episode 27 will have its roots in this fact, where the Kingdom of Science comes into action with a mathematical genius, not to fight someone like Minister Ibara, but simply to build something that this Stone Age has never seen.
