Pokemon Pokopia gets official new update for April 2026

Nintendo released update 1.0.3 for Pokemon Pokopiaa patch that continues to improve the overall experience with fixes for common player issues. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, Pokemon Pokopia has become a smash hit for Koei Tecmo and Nintendo, reminding many fans of a similar flash in a bottle moment experienced with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It will be interesting to see how long this momentum can carry Pokopia, but in the meantime, Nintendo is trying to keep interest high thanks to updates and post-launch events.

Actually an advantage Pokopia seems to have over Animal Crossing New Horizons is that the game seems to be getting more updates at a faster pace. While New Horizons had unique events built into certain days, such as special encounters or vendors appearing on a schedule, Pokemon Pokopia have already seen limited-time events that offer exclusive rewards. Alongside free downloads, fans also saw special events such as April Fools' Day, which added a Copycat challenge that eventually awarded an inflatable Sudowoodo as a prize. The latest update for Pokemon Pokopia doesn't add any new content, but it should help make the experience more stable.

Pokemon Pokopia's next big event is scheduled for April 29th

Pokemon Pokopia players looking forward to the game's next event should make sure to mark April 29 on their calendars.

Nintendo released update 1.0.3 for Pokemon Pokopia to further address issues affecting title. Similar to how Pokemon Pokopia teased with future improvements, this latest patch continues to hammer away at bugs and other potential progress blockers. Specifically, players encountered an issue where Pokemon habitats that had disappeared were no longer found anywhere in the game, even after using the Pokedex search function.

Additionally, the patch tackles some other odd behaviors, such as players suddenly getting stuck in Palette Town, unable to return to the original location. Players will no longer experience an issue where the controller vibrated continuously, and a unique issue that resulted in the Switch 2 screen being kept dark after moving between cities just as the game date changed. Various requests have also been fixed, such as “Put on the charging station!” and seasonal Pokémon on Pokopia's Cloud Islands will no longer disappear randomly.

For many fans and players, it's a big question about what's next for the game. Following Pokemon Pokopias impressive sales figures, it is assumed that Nintendo will aim to keep that momentum going through major post-launch content releases later in 2026 and likely well into 2027.

While the company hasn't specifically mentioned anything, that hasn't stopped fans from theorizing what an expansion or other post-launch content might look like. Considering Pokemon Pokopia set in a unique version of the Kanto region, it's possible that Nintendo could continue to add locations that ultimately didn't make it into the base game, such as the Seafoam Islands. Of course, more locations mean more Pokémon to find as well, with many of the original 151 still missing from the experience. In addition to dedicated content additions, it's possible that NIntendo may also choose to continue adding essential quality-of-life additions as well, although fans would likely enjoy seeing content applied through a free update rather than gated behind a DLC paywall.

Pokemon Pokopia Update 1.0.3 Patch Notes

We have implemented improvements to address the following issues:

  • In some cases, Pokémon whose habitats have disappeared cannot be found even when searching for them using the “Search” function in the Pokédex.

Additionally, the following issues have been fixed.

If these issues have already occurred in your game, this update will resolve them.

  • When you travel to a dream island under certain circumstances, you arrive in Palette Town and cannot return to the original town.

  • When moving between cities or when the in-game date changes, the screen remains dark, making it difficult to use the game.

  • If you perform certain actions, it becomes impossible to move the Pokémon's habitats.

  • If construction is done in a certain way, construction projects will not be completed until the in-game date changes.

  • In Bleak Beach, certain actions prevent progress during the request “Start the charging station!”

  • In Sparkling Skylands, certain actions cause the Pokemon you asked for building help to be removed, making it difficult to proceed with the request to rebuild the massive building.

  • On Cloud Islands, certain actions cause seasonal Pokemon to disappear from the city and Cloud Island.

  • When creating a new Cloud Island, an error occurs and the island cannot be created.

Some of the following issues have been partially fixed, making them less likely to occur.

  • By performing certain actions, the control unit vibrates continuously.
