In the Elbaph arc of One Piece, Roronoa Zoro finally figured out that he had access to the Conqueror's Haki, and this was thanks to Scopper Gaban, the Pirate King's left arm. It was Gaban who told Zoro that he had access to the Conqueror's Haki and that he was actually particularly set on using it very well. However, much to his surprise, Zoro was unaware that he held this Haki in the first place. Oda emphasized through Gaban that the true power of Conqueror's Haki can only be brought out when the user learns to properly control it, creating a path for Zoro to become even stronger.
