ARC Raiders Developer Embark Studios has released a short teaser video for the game's upcoming Flashpoint update, which seems to confirm that the deadliest ARC enemy in the game, the Shredder, is finally escaping the confines of Stella Monti. As March soon draws to a close, Embark plans to end the month with another big one ARC Raiders content update, which will be the third of four confirmed patches coming as part of the shooter's 2026 roadmap.
After finding huge success at launch last year, Embark kicked off the new year with a big 2026 roadmap for ARC Raiders. According to the studio's plans so far, ARC Raiders will receive four updates between January and April, presumably with additional updates on the way after that. The first, known as the Headwinds update, arrived in January and added a controversial 1v3 matchmaking option, a new exclusive map state for Buried City, and a new player project. Then, in February, the studio rolled out Shrouded Sky, another major content update that added two new ARC enemies, a new Dam Battlegrounds location, a large map state, and more.
Between Marathon and ARC Raiders, it's clear who took the biggest risk (and it paid off)
Marathon and ARC Raiders are two of the biggest extraction shooters of recent years, but one is clearly more experimental than the other.
The ARC Raiders tease Shredder who breaks out of Stella Montis
Last week, Embark announced that the third ARC Raiders This year's content update will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on Tuesday, March 31. Now, with the free patch fast approaching, the studio has released another teaser video, this time seemingly confirming that Shredder will soon be making his way to another map. The caption for the trailer reads: “Someone forgot to close the Stella Montis doors on the way out,” with the accompanying video showing the underground tunnels section of the Blue Gate all but confirming that the deadly enemy will be added to the map in next week's Flashpoint update.
For those of you who have kept up to date with Embark Studios since the launch of ARC Raidersthis probably comes as no surprise. Earlier this year, design director Virgil Watkins revealed in an interview with PC Gamer that the PvE side of the game will get a new twist in the future as Shredder will be added to other maps in ARC Raiders. It's now been revealed that the enemy will indeed be making it to the Blue Gate with Flashpoint next week, but it's still a mystery if Embark has plans to add Shredder to even more maps in the future.
Although Shredder, which was added ARC Raiders in a post-launch update along with Stella Montis, is currently only available on a single map, it is the deadliest enemy in the game. Earlier this month, Embark took to social media to reveal the five deadliest ARCs i ARC Raiders. While Firefly, who has barely been in the game for a month, came in at number three, it was Rocketeer who took second place, followed by Shredder at number one. The studio didn't reveal how many raiders had fallen victim to the Shredder, but you only have to take a trip to Stella Montis to see how deadly they can be.
Although Shredder will demand ARC Raiders players to change their tactics as it leaves Stella Montis and heads to the Blue Gate next week, the reception from the fans doesn't seem to be very positive. Many fans seem to be calling for Embark to focus on new content instead of adding existing enemies to other maps, with some speculating that the “new ARC threat” teased for March's Flashpoint update won't be so new after all. “Can't hype up Shredders on other maps as new content,” said content creator and streamer Cloakzy, while another user said: “I'm begging, please don't say that Shred is the new ARC threat. Please.”
