Resident Evil Requiem contains a nod to the events of Resident Evil 7but chances are you didn't notice it during your playthrough. Resident Evil Requiem is in many ways a love letter to Resident Evil franchise as a whole – a way to celebrate its 30th anniversary. It mainly celebrates Resident Evil 2especially in 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake, but it also has nods to various other games in the franchise.
Resident Evil Requiem sees Leon S. Kennedy return to Raccoon City, and he even visits the remnants of the Raccoon City Police Department. Leon's trials in Resident Evil 4 also referred to in Resident Evil Requiemlike the chainsaw-wielding enemies and the various one-liners that Kennedy throws at him Requiems villains. Many of the classics Resident Evil game references i Requiem are quite obvious, but one RE7 Easter eggs are very hard to find.

Resident Evil Requiem players discover a clever easter egg referencing RE1 and RE0 that is very easy to miss.
Grace's laptop references the events of Resident Evil 7
In fact, the only way we even know about it is that Reddit user KnyH_82 used a freecam tool on the PC version of the game to get a better look at Grace's laptop during one of the earliest cutscenes in the game. A look back at the beginning of Resident Evil Requiem features new protagonist Grace Ashcroft sitting in a hotel with her mother typing away on a laptop. We get a brief glimpse of the laptop's screen in the footage, but Reddit user KnyH_82 was able to use the freecam tool to show exactly what was on it.

A closer shot of Grace's laptop, shared by Reddit user GMAERS_07, shows Grace using Reddit (or a fake Resident Evil universe Reddit equivalent) and watching a thread discussing the events of Resident Evil 7. The commentators discuss the various characters who died in Resident Evil 7 and theorize if it might be related to the “giant black monster” seen in the area. The thread specifically discusses the Baker family themselves and what could possibly have happened to them. Note that the thread has MAJOR SPOILERS for Resident Evil 7so only read it if you have completed that game.
A closer look at Grace's laptop in Resident Evil Requiem
On the side of the screen it is possible to see some other threads on Grace's laptop. These include conspiracy theory threads on topics such as the government conducting experiments on children, alien mice on a moon-like planet called “Clangers“, people asking if there are still infected in the world, and people who don't trust the BSAA (the in-universe organization dedicated to combating bio-organic weapons).
The Clangers reference is a deep mention of a children's TV show that aired in the UK between 1969 and 1974, later reruns on the BBC between 2015 and 2020 with Monty Python's Michael Palin as narrator. The series followed the stories of a family of pink mouse-like creatures in space.
It's a fascinating detail, especially since it's basically impossible to see in-game. Maybe Capcom anticipated that Resident Evil Requiem PC gamers would use things like a freecam tool to get a better look at the game, leaving things like this in there for them to discover. Be that as it may, Grace's internet habits also influence her character's choices Requiem.
Based on Grace's Reddit habits, it looks like she was potentially considering a similar career to her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft. For the uninitiated, Alyssa was a journalist, and so it stands to reason that Grace would want to follow in her mother's footsteps. However, perhaps because of Grace's experience with the aforementioned Requiem flashback where the cutscene takes place, she eventually decides to pursue law enforcement instead and becomes an FBI agent.
Grace is an FBI agent for today's events in the Resident Evil Requiemhowever, she is still very inexperienced when it comes to surviving a biohazard incident. This is highlighted by Grace's section i Resident Evil Requiem are slower and scarier than Leon's, which are much more action-packed. Players are also encouraged to play Grace's sections in Resident Evil Requiem in the first person, which is another way she has a connection Resident Evil 7.
