Art Of Vengeance Sega Villains DLC Launches April 3rd

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance's wonderfully bizarre Sega Villains DLC finally has an April 3rd release date, along with one of the coolest trailers I've ever seen of Joe going up against Dr. Eggman, Majima, and the Death Adder.

Although Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Hollow Knight: Silksong stole most of the air from the room last year, I'd die on the hill where the best game of 2025 was Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Shinobi's gorgeous visuals, razor-sharp combat, and satisfyingly tough platforming hit the spot incredibly hard, resulting in a perfect 5/5 score from me.

As if I didn't already love Art of Vengeance enough, Sega announced shortly after the game's launch that it would be getting a major expansion focused on Sega Villains, including Sonic's Dr. Eggman, Yakuza's Majima Goro, and Golden Axe's Death Adder. It's been a while since we heard about that DLC, but it's finally back with a release date that's not far off at all.

After months of silence, Sega has finally given us a big update on the long-promised Sega Villains DLC for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, which will be released in just over two weeks on April 3rd. The release date was revealed in an incredibly cool animated trailer that recaps Art of Vengeance's ending and shows Joe facing off against all three of Sega.

Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Review – Brutal, beautiful, brilliant

Art of Vengeance is the new benchmark for bringing back a dormant IP and making it better than ever.

As gorgeous as Shinobi's 2D art style is, the cinematic trailer makes me very interested in seeing more of this version of Joe in 3D…

The DLC features five new stages inspired by the three Sega villain games, including Sonic, Golden Ax and Yakuza, each featuring a boss fight against the respective villain. Two new boss rush modes will also be added to the DLC, along with six music tracks, three Ninpo and three new outfits for Joe which I believe are tied to the franchises represented.

The Sega Villains DLC is included as part of the Digital Deluxe edition of the game, but can be purchased separately for £8.99. That's not all, though, as a free patch is also coming to Art of Vengeance on April 3 that adds a “Hardcore Mode” and makes several tweaks to the game's combat. Let's see you beat the ridiculous final boss in Hardcore Mode without wanting to cry.

Crimson Desert will either be a colossal disappointment or the biggest game in years

As one of the biggest open world games of the year, Crimson Desert brings with it a lot of questions.
