Depending on which version of the Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen players have, they will be able to capture certain species from Gen II (Johto). Both the FireRed & LeafGreen versions have a separate Pokedex list for Johto Pokemon (the National Pokedex), which isunlocked after the match after players defeat the Elite Fourandbecome league champion.

All Gen 2 Pokemon in FireRed version and where to find them

All Gen 2 Johto Pokémon in FireRed version

As mentioned earlier, Gen II (Johto) Pokemon are unlocked with the National Dex, and most of them can be found by exploring the post-game content (Sevii Islands). Here are the exclusive FireRed versions and where you can find them:

  • Bellossom: Can be obtained by exposing Gloom to a Sun Stone.
  • Elekid: Players must breed an Electabuzz and a Ditto at Four Island Daycare, walk around for a while, then go back to the daycare, talk to the clerk and get an egg. The egg will hatch into Elekid.
  • Scissors: Players must visit the Memorial Pillar in Five Island and select the Metal Rock there. Then have Scyther hold that item and trade it with another player.
  • Whooper: Can spawn while surfing around Four Island. It can also be found at Icefall Cave.
  • Quagsire: Evolves from Wooper at level 20.
  • Murkrow: Spawns in Lost Cave (Five Island).
  • Qwilfish: Can be angled with Super Rod in the water in Water Labyrinth and Five Island Meadow.
  • Delibird: Playing inside the Icefall Cave; players must surf and reach one of the northern platforms with Surf to find it.
  • Skirmish: Playing in Sevault Canyon (Seven Island) in the tall grass.

All Gen 2 Johto Pokemon in LeafGreen version

Players trying to complete their National Dex will soon find the need to trade in another version of the game. In the case of LeafGreen, here are its Gen 2 exclusives and their location:

  • Slowking: Travel to Seven Island and to Sevault Canyon, where there is a King's Rock obtainable by solving a Rock Smash/Strength puzzle. Players can also obtain a King's Rock by catching Slowpokes after obtaining the National Dex. Now give the King's Rock to a Slowpoke and trade it with another player, and it will evolve into a Slowking.
  • Magby: Get a Magmar and a Ditto and drop them off at Four Island Daycare, walk around a bit, then go back to the daycare, talk to the old man to get an egg. The egg will hatch in Magby.
  • Marill: Travel to Four Island and use Surf in the small lake next to the Pokemon Center. Marill should spawn after swimming around for a while.
  • Azumarill: Evolves from Marill from level 18.
  • Misdreavus: Travel to Five Island and use Surf, then go all the way around heading east until you find a small gap between the rocks, then follow this path to reach the Lost Cave. Enter the cave, choose one of the side paths and walk around until Misdreavus spawns.

  • Sneasel: Playing at the Icefall Cave. Players must have a pokemon that knows HM 03 Surf to access this location.
  • Remoraid: Can be caught with the Super Rod in the water in the Water Labyrinth and Five Island Meadow.
  • Octillery: Evolves from Remoraid at level 25.
  • Mantine: Can spawn in the water surrounding Seven Island, especially the north side of the Trainer Tower.
