In Jesus' own words, “This game takes place during a specific period within the John Wick timeline and contributes to the expansive and rich lore“, so don't expect a sequel to a video game John Wick chapter 4or an intermediate title for the films.
In fact, Saber Interactive's own X account posted the trailer with the caption “Before the car. Before the dog. Before he became Baba Yaga.“See that one John Wick the game is likely during John Wick's peak as a hitman, rather than when he retired after his “mission impossible”.

A distinct combat system awaits
Although glimpses of in-game footage were limited in the reveal trailer, it's already clear that John Wick aims to bring the brutal spectacle of action gun-fu to the world of video games. Not only are there brief glimpses of this as evidence, but Jesus Iglesias confirms some signature moves John Wick movies integrated into the game.
Jesus says that use of camera work, bold and cinematic environments, distinct gun-fu action and intense driving experiences will all be present in the game. This means players can expect “a distinct combat system” that will feel and look like no other game has been able to achieve without John Wick as their muse.

This is great news for all players, like even one John Wick exclusive title would be a win for PlayStation amid their continued exclusive as God of war, Spider-Man, Death Stranding, and Ghost of Yotei (and many more), that would be a shame John Wick never made it out of the PlayStation camp.
