Upcoming FromSoftware Switch 2 Exclusive game still releasing this year

FromSoftware owner Kadokawa has just offered an exciting update on the developer's future Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, Duskbloods. Arriving on a wave of hype after years of rumors and anticipation, the Nintendo Switch 2 brought with it the promise of major hardware improvements, with major resolution and performance upgrades over its predecessor, making it an even more capable system. The system also offers mouse controls with the Joy-Con 2 controllers, adding a PC gaming element to a platform that already blends the worlds of consoles and handheld systems.

Since its launch last June, the Nintendo Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling system in Nintendo's history. The publisher has continued to support it with a steady diet of exciting first-party titles, such as Donkey Kong Banana and Kirby Air Riderswith games like Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will expand the lineup further later this year. Nintendo has also stacked the system with plenty of third-party support, with the publisher reporting that the Switch 2 has the largest launch of its third-party systems.

In its latest earnings report, FromSoftware owner Kadokawa reiterated that Duskbloods will still be released sometime this year. The conglomerate said: “FromSoftware currently has several titles in the development pipeline, including The Ring of Fire Tarnished Edition and Duskbloods (both slated for a 2026 release for Nintendo Switch 2).” Kadokawa also confirmed that the game will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, which is jointly distributed by FromSoftware and Nintendo.

In the aforementioned quote, Kadokawa also reiterated that The Ring of Fire: Tarnished EditionThe Nintendo Switch 2 port of the 2022 Game of the Year winner at The Game Awards, is still in development. While the game was supposed to come to Nintendo's console last year, The Ring of Fire: Tarnished Edition was delayed to 2026 to allow for improvements to the game's overall performance. Kadokawa's performance report confirms that the project is not only in the works, but is on track for release later this year.

Kadokawa's repetition of DuskbloodsContinued development is a good sign for a game that Nintendo and FromSoftware have been quiet about lately. After being announced at the first Nintendo Switch 2 Direct last April, gamers haven't been able to see Duskbloods since, and it even failed to make an appearance at the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase this month. The announcement that the game is still on track for release later this year is an encouraging sign that gamers may finally get to see the project in action within the next few months.

In addition to the news about Duskbloodsthe reaffirmation of The Ring of Fire: Tarnished Editions release on Switch 2 is exciting news, given the extended wait for its release. As Duskbloods, The Ring of Fire: Tarnished Edition was announced early on at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, but hasn't been seen since and also skipped the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. The addition of these two FromSoftware titles will only add to what is shaping up to be a stacked lineup of partner-developed titles on the Nintendo Switch 2.
