Another Xbox Game Pass game has been confirmed for March 2026

Day one Xbox Game Pass title Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf will launch on March 5, 2026, Thunderful Group has announced. Ahead of the Xbox Game Pass launch, the upcoming adventure will even get a demo.

The second title from Swedish studio Wishfully, Planet of Lana 2 is a side-scrolling puzzle adventure with hand-painted visuals, following Lana and her companion, Mui, as they traverse a planet that mixes natural environments with advanced technology. The game was announced in June 2025, and Wishfully confirmed that it would launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, as well as the studio's debut title. At the time, the Sweden-based developer only committed to a vague 2026 launch window for its upcoming title.

Planet of Lana 2 release date announced with new trailer

About eight months after the original announcement, Planet of Lana 2 has been given a concrete release date: March 5. The date was revealed via a new gameplay trailer that offers another comprehensive look at the upcoming puzzle platformer. After detailing the game's story, which focuses on Lana's efforts to help her shattered planet, the trailer highlights a variety of environments, including forests, snowy areas, swamp environments, a level with a driving train, and even a shanty town.

Lana's planet launched in 2023 to largely positive reviews, as reflected in its average score of 81 and 80% recommendation rating on OpenCritic. Critics highlighted its art direction, atmosphere, and soundtrack, while opinions of its platforming were more mixed, with some reviewers describing it as overly simple. Planet of Lana 2 aims to build on this aspect by placing greater emphasis on player mobility and gameplay variety. Developer Wishfully has said that the sequel features an “older, more agile” version of Lana, with smoother movements and additional abilities such as wall jumping. On that note, today's release date trailer indicates improvements to her standard jump as well, which now appears to be longer.

Like the first post, Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf is designed as a story-driven experience presented without spoken dialogue. While characters do communicate, their speech consists of Simlish-style gibberish rather than intelligible language. This creative limitation has long been used by developers and filmmakers to deliver universally accessible stories, with the lack of intelligible dialogue removing the need for subtitles and localization. When used effectively, a dialogue-free narrative is intuitively understandable, allowing other aspects of the medium—namely visuals and music—to shine. The first one Lana's planet was widely praised as an example of dialogue-free storytelling done right.
