15 Strongest Dragon Ball Super Characters Who Can Become Super Saiyan, Ranked

Goku changed everything for anime and Dragon Ball franchise when he became a Super Saiyan for the first time back in the Frieza Saga. Ever since then has Dragon Ball the series has gone out of its way to introduce more and more Super Saiyans, with Dragon Ball Super in particular runs wild with the concept.

Dragon Ball: Each Saiyan's highest recorded power level, officially ranked

Between the Dragon Ball Z anime, manga, guidebooks, and movies, there are only a handful of recorded power levels in the Dragon Ball franchise.

As of Tournament of Power, there are now 15 Dragon Ball Super characters who can go Super Saiyan – some stronger than others, of course. Although most Dragon Ball Saiyans now have unique forms like Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego and Gohan Beast to keep them on par with the series' strongest gods and villains, there will always be a place for Super Saiyan forms.

Teen Goth

Super Saiyan Goten and Super Saiyan Trunks

As the youngest Super Saiyan in history (until Pan eventually unlocks the form once Dragon Ball Super returns), Goten has always been incredibly powerful. In the Majin Buu Saga, he is even powerful enough to rival Gohan in strength until his brother starts training again. Unfortunately, Goten has never taken his power seriously – something the Peaceful World Saga in the End of Z makes very clear, given that Goku has to force him to participate in the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai.

Of Dragon Ball Super: Super HeroGoten has regressed to the weakest Super Saiyan in the series. He's still strong enough to hold off Cell Max with Trunks' help, but he'd rather use his powers to take on basic criminals than fight serious threats. He has even forgotten how to digest the events Superhero. That said, he is strong enough to participate in the Super Saiyan Battle Royale Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103 (although it almost certainly goes down first).

Teen Trunks

Super Saiyan Goten and Super Saiyan Trunks with Gamma 2 and Gamma 1

Trunks is a year older than Goten and has always been a bit stronger than his rival and best friend. Goku even admits this in the Majin Buu Saga when he tells Trunks to lower his power level so he can actually melt Goten. When Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero hits, Trunks seems to have dropped to around Goten's level, but it's safe to say he's still slightly stronger – if only because he fights more than Goten does.

In it Dragon Ball Super manga, Goten and Trunks train on Android 17's island by fighting the Cell Juniors who managed to escape death at the Cell Games. This helps them stay strong on the way in Dragon Ball Super: Super Herobut they are still weaker than both Gammas and can only marginally help Gohan during the fight with Cell Max.

Cabba

Dragon Ball Super Shot Of Cabba As A Super Saiyan

Cabba is one of the ten strongest fighters in Universe 6, and the first Saiyan from Planet Sadala to actually transform into a Super Saiyan. During the Tournament of Destroyers, Vegeta takes a liking to Cabba and teaches him how to transform Super Saiyan by forcing his new student to tap into his raw emotions. Cabba is incredibly strong in his own right, but he's not quite god-level like his fellow Saiyans.

Unfortunately for Cabba, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta is able to effortlessly defeat him. Cabba has grown stronger through the Tournament of Power, but he still pales in comparison to his fellow Saiyans. His biggest contribution in the Universe Survival Saga is recruiting Caulifla and Kale, who turns out to be very stronger Super Saiyans than himself.

Gotenks

Fat Gotenks in Dragon Ball Super Hero

It's hard to believe, but there was a time when Gotenks was actually one of the strongest characters in the Dragon Ball history. At the beginning of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of GodsGotenks was the third strongest Z-Fighter after Vegito and Ultimate Gohan. Unfortunately, losing to Beerus pretty much ended his fighting career for good. Gotenks wasn't even brought to fight Frieza's army Resurrection Fand was outright ignored for Universe 7's roster in the Tournament of Power.

Gotenk's latest showing was in Dragon Ball Super: Super Herowhere Goten and Trunks failed their fusion and accidentally merged into the fat version of Gotenks. Unfortunately, the fat version of Gotenks can't transform Super Saiyan, but he still does remarkable damage to Cell Max. If Goten and Trunks had performed the fusion correctly, the true Super Saiyan Gotenks would have been a valuable asset in Superherofinal battle.

Goku black

Super Saiyan Goku Black

In it Dragon Ball Super anime, Goku Black skips Super Saiyan altogether and instantly unlocks Super Saiyan Rosé once he's received enough Zenkai Boosts. The Dragon Ball Super manga changes things up by having Goku Black unlock regular Super Saiyans first, forcing him to earn Super Saiyan Rosé during his fight with Vegeta.

Super Saiyan Goku Black looks amazing design-wise, but he's not that strong in the grand scheme of things. Vegeta can put SSJ Goku Black in his place just fine. It's worth noting, Goku Black is significantly weaker in the manga than in the anime. When Dragon Ball Super anime is coming back, it will be interesting to see if the remake adapts Super Saiyan Goku Black or jumps straight to SSR.

10

Caulifla

Dragon Ball has no shortage of prodigies, but the closest thing Universe 6 has to its own version of Goku is Caulifla on a whole other level. With minimal coaching from Cabba, Caulifla can transform Super Saiyan like it's absolutely nothing.

During the Tournament of Power, she even manages to unlock Super Saiyan Grade 2 and straight up Super Saiyan 2 – a form that took Gohan nine months of straight training with Goku and raw emotional trauma just to achieve. Super Saiyan 2 Caulifla was even strong enough to go toe to toe with Goku, albeit with a little help from his partner Kale. Unfortunately, Caulifla isn't quite on God's level, as she had to fuse with Kale just to have a chance against Super Saiyan God Goku.

9

Kale

dragon-ball-super-kale-legendary-super-saiyan

Kale is Universe 6's legendary Super Saiyan and Planet Sadala's counterpart to Broly. Interesting, as this makes Kale the first canon Legendary Super Saiyan in Dragon Ball history. Kale's Super Saiyan form is ridiculously powerful and dangerous; she was even able to eliminate multiple universes herself i Dragon Ball Super manga.

Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, Ultra Ego Vegeta, Ultra Instinct Goku and Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks

The Official 10 Strongest Dragon Ball Super Forms, Ranked

Dragon Ball Super's power scaling means the series' forms are leagues stronger than anything seen in Dragon Ball Z, and only getting stronger.

In it Dragon Ball Super anime, Kale is even strong enough to deal serious damage against Super Saiyan Blue Goku, which is an amazing feat in itself. Like Broly, however, Kale cannot control her transformation and becomes significantly weaker when she is in a calmer state of mind. But with a little training, she could become the single strongest warrior in Universe 6.

8

Kefla

The Potara fusion between Caulifla and Kale, Kefla is a very different character between Dragon Ball Super anime and manga in terms of power scaling. In it Dragon Ball Super anime, Kefla is firmly on the higher end of the god spectrum and makes Goku sweat profusely just to keep up. Kefla pushes Goku to reverse the Ultra Instinct Sign a second time after beating Jiren, and it's only thanks to UI that Goku wins.

In it Dragon Ball Super manga, Kefla is significantly weaker and roughly on par with Ultimate Gohan – which is still impressive, but nowhere near the god-level feats she pulled off in the anime. In the manga, both Kefla and Gohan knock each other out at the exact same time in a no holds barred brawl.

7

Gohan

Gohan is currently the strongest Z fighter in Dragon Ball Superbut that's only when it comes to Gohan Beast. When it comes to his regular Super Saiyan form, Gohan still lags behind Saiyans like Vegeta, Goku, and Broly. Gohan used to be the strongest unassembled character at the end of Dragon Ball Zbut he is losing his place at the top of the pecking order Battle of Gods.

In the course of Dragon Ball SuperGohan walks back as he finishes training. Piccolo even has to teach him the basics before the manga's version of the Tournament of Power just so Gohan can keep up. By the Moro Saga, Gohan is in much better shape and even confirms Piccolo in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero that he works out on the side to keep fit.

6

Vegeta

Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta rage enhanced in Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods

Vegeta has much more raw potential than Goku when it comes to their respective power levels, and he doesn't have to train as hard to catch up to his rival. IN Dragon Ball Z: Battle of GodsVegeta's rage surge when Beerus beats Bulma raises his power level so high that he manages to surpass Super Saiyan 3 Goku as a regular Super Saiyan 2.

While Vegeta sticks to Super Saiyan Blue Evolution and Ultra Ego as his main forms these days, he is still quite powerful as a Super Saiyan. The main things holding back Vegeta's SSJ compared to Goku's is that Vegeta never seemingly mastered Full Power Super Saiyan, and has spent more time refining his god forms.
