Highguard players try to unlock the game's platinum

We're almost five full days away from Highguard's release, and while things aren't looking good, especially when it comes to player count, the game has quickly fallen behind some of the other more divisive titles in Steam's history.

That said, on PlayStation, fans seem to enjoy the game, or at least enjoy the prospect of winning the Platinum Trophy. So much so that, as of this writing, at least 54 people, per PSNProfiles, have Platinum.

The list, which consists of 33 trophies; 20 Bronze, 7 Silver, 5 Gold and the single Platinum, sees some heavy finishes. Whether that has to do with the potential for the game to eventually shut down or because people actually think Highguard is awesome remains to be seen.

For what it's worth, the first Platinum winner, per PSNProfiles, liked it. It takes about 18 hours, and it's pretty easy.

“I never expected to raw the dog Platinum, but when I played with friends I realized that the trophies weren't so bad, so I just kept going,” the priest wrote on Reddit.

The number of 54 figures will increase in the next few days, as PSNProfiles users are actively recruiting for a “Boosting Session”. That should help with some of the trickier requirements.

Highguard's failure shouldn't matter that much

Highguard has become a talking point for game artists, instead of just a generic shooter that isn't as good as Apex Legends.

Mind you, while some trophy hunters are dead set on increasing their Platinum counts with “simple” titles, there's another end of the spectrum that involves people tackling trophies for games that are either bad or may get delisted.

We only have to look at Concord and MindsEye to know that people love pain

Almost two years ago, when it was revealed that Concord was going to be shut down and the game is no longer available to buy, play or even download again, people started competing for Platinum, knowing that it would no longer be possible to earn.

To do that, they figuratively started killing themselves in the game because it was the fastest way to earn XP. But even then it was a marginal increase and those who eventually earned platinum spent a lot of time.

Elsewhere, one of 2025's worst reviewed titles, MindsEye, had a surprising number of people chasing and earning Platinum. Again, players suffered from poor gameplay to try and make something possible. In this case, MindsEye has not been delisted. It's more of a badge of honor.

Consider Highguard part of that list.

After 10 hours with Highguard it feels like a bad Apex Legends update

After 10 hours, I'm not sure Highguard really understands what it wants to be.
