During the Resident Evil Showcase on January 15th, Capcom shared more information about the gameplay elements that players can experience Resident Evil Requiem. Trump's tariffs may have cost Resident Evil Requiem its Collector's Edition

Even if Resident Evil Requiem will have physical copies of the base and deluxe editions of the game, the lack of a collector's edition did not escape longtime fans. In response to a question from a Twitter user, noted gaming industry insider Dusk Golem said that the tariffs implemented by the Trump administration led to Capcom not releasing a collector's edition for Resident Evil Requiem as before Resident Evil records have had. Although Capcom hasn't officially stated why Resident Evil Requiem has no collector's edition, the rising cost of making goods has been a constant factor since Trump returned to office.

The gaming industry immediately felt the impact of Trump's tariffs after the administration implemented them in early 2025. Following the tariff announcements, analysts noted that games and consoles would become more expensive to manufacture, as companies passed the cost on to consumers worldwide. In the second half of 2025, Sony raised the prices of its PS5 console line in response to the tariffs. The tariffs also resulted in two price increases for the Xbox console in 2025.
