When it comes to legendary manga magazines, Weekly Shonen Jump is quite easily the best of them all, and for a big reason. Jujutsu Kaisen: 23 Powerful Quotes by Yuji Itadori
Yuji Itadori is the source of many inspirational and thought provoking quotes in Jujutsu Kaisen. Here are some of his best.
Unfortunately for Shone Jump, it seems that times are a bit tough at the moment, especially after the end of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen back-to-back in 2024. Since then, Weekly Shonen Jump hasn't really found a proper replacement. But recently, a new series has proven that it can compete with these two, and that series is none other than the official sequel to Jujutsu Kaisenknown as Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo. Modulo has proven to be the biggest new manga, and fans can't wait to see what else Gege has in store for them with this short but phenomenal sequel.
Weekly Shonen Jump lost two of its biggest series in 2024

My Hero Academia ended in August 2024

Jujutsu Kaisen ended in September 2024
Weekly Shonen Jump is experiencing one of its toughest times in the last decade. As fans may recall, the end of 2024 saw the end of two of Weekly Shonen Jump's biggest series. What made matters worse was the fact that they ended almost back to back, leaving a huge gap in the paper. These series are My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen, two of the mainstays of modern shonen, as well as Jump magazine.
My Hero Academia is a shonen series that first started in Weekly Shonen Jump way back in 2014. Ten years later, it ended in August 2024, with 430 chapters. Fans were definitely heartbroken to see Deku's story end, but at least the story got a solid conclusion. After the end of the anime, the sales of the series will now decrease.
Jujutsu Kaisen, meanwhile, followed the story of Yuji Itadori and featured some incredible battles of Sorcerers. The last arc of JJK did incredible numbers for Weekly Shonen Jump. While JJK started in 2018, it had a fairly short run, ending just a little while after My Hero Academia, in September 2024, with a total of 271 chapters. Unlike My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen is still getting a lot of after sales at the moment, as its anime is nowhere near the end. JJK was even 2025's second best selling mangadespite the fact that no new volume has been released.
Anyway, both JJK and My Hero Academia were top sellers for Jump, so it was definitely not easy for the magazine to part with them. At the moment, it can be said that the only major manga out there for Weekly Shonen Jump is One Piece. But now a new hit series has risen, and sales can even be compared to what My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen used to achieve once.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is the perfect replacement for MHA and JJK

Modulo Volume 1 sales prove it can replace both JJK and MHA

Modulo will stop after a short run
Jujutsu Kaisen ended in 2024, but its creator, Gege Akutami, actually returned just a year later in 2025. Gege Akutami returned with a new story set 68 years after the events of the Sukuna Battle in the same world as Jujutsu Kaisen. This new story was named Jujutsu Kaisen Moduloand it has already shown great potential.
As some fans may know, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has just released its very first manga volume, and already it has become a huge sensation. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo went on to be the best selling volume when it was released. In addition to that, it also broke a new record. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo became the number one best selling new manga of all time for Weekly Shonen Jump.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami officially kills off his main character
JJK's sequel marked the beginning of a new era for the series. The death of Gege's protagonist is now official.
Of course, while big sales are expected from an older series like Modulo, it's still impressive, especially when you see the likes of Boruto were also serialized in this very magazine at one point.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo fills the gap left by two giants at the moment, and it can definitely be said that it proves to be a perfect replacement for both its predecessor, Jujutsu Kaisen, and also My Hero Academia.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is great, but it will run out in a few months
-
Gege could start a new manga after Modulo
-
Horikoshi may start his own new series soon
Fans have loved every second of it Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. The series only started a few months ago, in September 2025, and it has only gained more popularity and massive praise since then.
Sadly, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo cannot be a permanent replacement for the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia. As many fans may have already heard, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is a fairly short manga.
Gege Akutami himself has stated at the beginning of Modulo that he does not intend for it to be a long manga. Modulo is only expected to get around three volumes and run for around six months in total. Although fans had hoped that Gege would change his mind, it is clear that Modulo will still be made into a short manga.
After all, the major battles in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which are Tsurugi vs. Maru and Dabura vs. Yuka, have already started, and one of those battles is already almost finished.
Of course, there are still some things fans are waiting to see happen, like the return of Yuji Itadori. But other than that, the manga doesn't have long left.
Instead, fans hope so Gege Akutami is either returning with another Jujutsu Kaisen sequel set in the huge gap between the original series and Modulo, or a brand new manga.
Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, has also previously said that he would like to start a brand new series. A brand new story by Horikoshi would be an incredible hit, even if he decides to never return to the world of My Hero Academia.
Fans would definitely love to see both Gege and Horikoshi return to Jump with long seriesand it will most likely happen sometime in the future. However, information on when these new projects might arrive is still scarce. For now, fans should just enjoy what's left of Modulo as the battles get faster and faster.
