Terraria has finally confirmed the 1.4.5 update release date

Terrarias long-awaited 1.4.5 update finally has an official release date of Tuesday, January 27, 2026. TerrariaThe 1.4.5 update was originally announced all the way back in November 2022 and initially had a release window of 2023. After over three years of waiting, fans only have a few more weeks to get their hands on Terraria 1.4.5.

While fans have never had to wait this long for one before, the 1.4.5 update is just the latest in a very long line of Terraria updates. After its launch in 2011, Terraria continued to receive fairly regular content updates right up until May 2020 and the release of the 'Journey's End' update (1.4.0). As the title suggests, Terrarias 1.4.0 update was supposed to be the last, but just five months later, developer Re-Logic delivered another major content release titled “Round Up the Journey.” Three more major updates arrived Terraria between October 2020 and September 2022, where each and a half are jokingly called for Terrarias “final update” by fans and some developers. The same has been said for Terrarias upcoming 1.4.5 update.

Terraria 1.4.5 update launches on January 27, 2026

Terraria's 1.4.5 update may be closer than you think

Confirmed via a Steam News Hub post from Re-Logic, TerrariaThe 1.4.5 update will be officially released on January 27, 2026. So long Terraria fans will know that this 1.4.5 update has been delayed several times since its announcement as far back as November 2022, with the most recent being late last year. IN TerrariaIn the October 2025 'State of the Game' post, developer Re-Logic confirmed that the 1.4.5 update could possibly launch between December 2025 and January 2026. In the next month's State of the Game post, it was confirmed that January would be the more likely release window.

IN Terrarias December 2025 State of the Game post, Re-Logic shed some more light on this latest 1.4.5 delay. Essentially, it was all about getting the update submissions approved by all the necessary parties. Although Re-Logic submitted the 1.4.5 versions for testing in December, it takes time for them to be reviewed by the console's first parties and global partners, especially during the holiday season. Likewise, Re-Logic didn't want to rush a late December release Terraria 1.4.5 because the developer didn't want to force his team to work through the Christmas week and tap to iron out any issues that would have potentially arisen after the 1.4.5 release.

New features confirmed for Terraria's 1.4.5 update

That said, Re-Logic confirmed it TerrariaThe 1.4.5 update was approaching a content-complete stage in September 2025, and based on the timing of submissions, all new features included in the update were likely locked by the end of November 2025. And considering that the update has been in development for over three years, fans are expecting a lot of new content on January 27th. Here are just a few confirmed of the biggest Terrarias 1.4.5 update:
