Unfortunately for the millions of PC gamers using SteamValve's digital platform is experiencing some major issues today. Steam is the premier digital storefront for PC gamers, with the widest selection of games from all-time classics to modern masterpieces. Steam's many quality-of-life features and consumer-friendly model have made it a favorite of most PC gamers.
Steam almost always works as it should, but there are rare times when it has some hiccups. Steam's latest issue appeared on Christmas Eve, with the platform going down for a short time before coming back up, only to go down again. Right now it seems like Steam is working for some players but not others, and it's unclear when exactly the issues will be fully resolved.

Amid ongoing generative AI controversy, it appears the most wish-listed game on Steam has been ignored while being published by an “AI-First” company.
Is Steam down right now?
As for access to Steam on December 24th, mileage may vary. As of this writing it's not 100% working for me, but apparently others can access it without issue. Valve itself has not issued a statement regarding the issues plaguing Steam today, but hopefully the issues are resolved soon.
It's unclear exactly what's causing Steam's problems. It's possible that the influx of people using Steam during the holidays is causing the problem, or maybe there's something else at play. Whatever the case may be, we'll update this article once Steam services are fully restored for everyone.
