The Goblin King is a trickster, though at first he pretends to be a helpful friend. While he runs off with your stashes, he will still help you open the Goblin Cave. Unlike the Cure for Isaac quest, this is a long series of tasks that require significant time, gold and ore farming. Specifically, Goblin King gives you five quests The forge. Here is a summary:
- Goblin King 1: 5,000 gold coins
- Goblin King 2: 10,000 Gold and x3 Topaz (from Basalt Core)
- Goblin King 3: 15,000 gold and x5 diamonds (from Basalt Core and Basalt Veins)
- Goblin King 4: 20,000 gold and x5 emeralds (from basalt core and basalt veins)
- Let's get over it!: 25,000 gold and x5 rubies (from Basalt Veins)
These quests are heavy and require a total of 75,000 gold. Since earning gold is a big deal in this game, and some ores (like rubies) require mining basalt veins, you'll probably need to buy a Mythril Pickaxe for 67,500 gold. In total, you need at least 142,500 gold to complete all Goblin King quests in The forge.

When you give the Goblin King everything he needs, he disappears. Just press E near his throne to receive the Goblin Cave Key. Go to the cave door, unlock it and enter. Continue north, then east toward the waterfalls. Inside the falls, you'll see what looks like a rock wall, but it's actually a door. Enter from the left, and the black cat awaits in Descent's Beginning; just pick it up.
Now, teleport back to Tomo and return the cat. Completing the Tomo the Explorist quest rewards you with 25,000 gold, the Professional Rescuer badge, the CatLover title, and other perks like more storage capacity, stamina, and experience for leveling up.
