The reach of the games industry has gradually expanded, with more and more popular titles appearing in other forms of media. In particular, some of the biggest and most memorable franchises of recent years are being adapted for television audiences.
With more TV shows comes more competition, as some beloved series have begun to compete with each other for the audience's affections. So, we wanted to find out from the Ranters who they thought was the king of television – and they've decided.

Fallout was voted the best video game adaptation by GR Readers
The TV adaptation of Bethesda's hugely popular Fall-out series was named the winner in a landslide, surpassing the likes of the Pedro Pascal-led The last of us, and some other very notable spin-offs.

With just over half of the total votes, Fall-out takes the crown for our readers' favorite TV adaptation of a video game. Since its release in 2024, the show has taken the world by storm, with many fans flocking back for the second season as it continues to unravel.
Coming in second place is The last of usstarring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay. While there has been some controversy and criticism about the show, the original game has historically been applauded as one of the strongest gaming narratives in recent memory, something that has largely carried over to television.
Interestingly, in third place, with a fairly significant share of the total votes, was “none of these”. This is of course open to interpretation, but may include other more recent adaptations such as Secret, Secret leveland Devil May Cry.
Rounding out the remaining options was a tight race between three iconic franchises, some of which have historically been loyal to their own major console brand. The edge of the competition is the former Xbox only Halofollowed by PlayStations Twisted Metalwhen Knuckles, from Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Although they didn't seem to have a significant impact on the GR audience, compared to the best options, they can certainly count on the unwavering loyalty of their die-hard fanbases.
