ARC Raiders reveals new item for Cold Snap update

ARC Raiders Developer Embark Studios has given fans a sneak peek at one of the new items that will be added to the game with this week's highly anticipated Cold Snap update. While ARC Raiders players already have a musical item available in the game, Embark is about to give fans even more ways to make some songs Topside, as a short teaser trailer for the next content update confirms that a guitar will soon be added to the extraction game.

Despite launching smack bang in the middle of Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7two of the year's biggest first-person shooters, ARC Raiders has still found great success in recent months. At launch, Embark's latest title managed to soar to more than 481,000 concurrent players on Steam, making it one of the most played games on the platform. Even after almost 7 weeks, ARC Raiders still averaging around 300,000 concurrent players at peak times. For reference, Battlefield 6 often peaks around 150,000 players, while Call of Duty peaks only at 65,000. Among other things ARC Raiders' steady stream of new content updates is likely one of the main reasons why it continues to hold steady in terms of active players, and its next big patch is coming this week.

Tired of grinding for rare items or looking for the fastest way to progress in ARC Raiders, some players turn to eBay to buy blueprints.

The Cold Snap update will be ARC Raidersthe second major content update since its release in October. This time around, fans will be able to check out the new Snowfall map condition, which will blanket the game's map in snow, compromising visibility, making Raiders unsteady on their feet when walking on frozen water, and putting them in danger if they stay outdoors for too long. The update will also see the launch of an all-new Raider Deck, bringing tons of new cosmetic items to the game, as well as the first departure window for the Expedition Project, and more.

ARC Raiders is adding a guitar in its next update

In a new YouTube video, Embark Studios has revealed that ARC Raiders' Cold Snap update will bring a new guitar item to the game. Like the flute, it probably won't serve any purpose other than to let players blast some music while Topside. By the looks of the short trailer shared by the studio, the guitar will seemingly attract the attention of nearby ARC enemies, so it's probably best for players to be careful if they plan to use it in an open area.

Many players have used the flute as a way to let other attackers know they mean no harm, so it's likely that the guitar will serve a similar purpose. Perhaps the two can be played side by side for an epic harmony? For now, we'll have to wait until the update goes live on December 16 to see how the guitar is in-game.

As for what else will be added to the game this week, Embark has also revealed one of the new ones ARC Raiders skins players will be able to get their hands on. Shown at the end of a recent trailer, the newest outfit to be added to the game will be wearing a thick coat and gloves (presumably to survive the new windy weather conditions), solar panels on the arms that appear to power some sort of device on the Raider's wrist, and a mask, beanie and eye protection. Unfortunately, the skin seems to have already received some criticism from the community, as players called it “ugly” and “horrible”.

Fans are also eager to see how many bug fixes and quality of life improvements will be included in the next one ARC Raiders update, as many issues have plagued the same for the past few weeks. While the studio says its latest patch has fixed an out-of-bounds bug on Stella Montis and Blue Gate, it only took hours for players to find another similar exploit of the maps. With the holiday season fast approaching, players are demanding that Embark address the exploits as soon as possible.
