If the leak is real, Hogwarts Legacy will be followed by Jurassic World Evolution 2 on December 18, Desperate 3, Total War: Warhammer, Tropical 5, Chicken Police: Paint It Red, Loop Hero, LEGO Batman, Commander Keen, Farming Simulator 2022, Slime Rancher 2, Terraria, Detroit: Become Human, Mortal Kombat 11and finally, Red Dead Redemption 2 to end the new year. The selection is a mix of big-budget AAA games and lower-profile titles, fitting with mystery gaming promotions from years past, but there are some serious red flags in the leaked list.
Red Dead Redemption 2 being free on the Epic Games Store seems outlandish in itself, but Rockstar Games titles have been free on the platform in the past, with the most notable example being Grand Theft Auto 5.
Several games on the list are currently unavailable on the Epic Games Store, which is the biggest sign that the list is fake. Of course, it's entirely possible that the games will make their debuts on the platform as free-to-play games, which is not unprecedented. The other red flag is that the Christmas Day free games have usually been a bigger title, so it wouldn't make sense to load up the end of the month with games like Mortal Kombat 11 and Red Dead Redemption 2 and give away Commander Keen on the 25th.
In previous years, the Epic Games Store's free mystery game promotion has extended to 2026. The fact that no 2026 games are mentioned in the list is also a sign that it's almost certainly fake.
