A reliable source i Genshin Impact community has revealed a rough overview of map expansions coming in the second half of Nod-Krai. It's no secret Genshin Impact has gone through a bit of a content drought in 2025 – having only released one new zone in version 5.5, version 5.8 and version 6.0. In contrast, 2024 featured five map expansions over Fontaine and Natlan, while 2023 featured six over Sumeru and Fontaine. Considering that the main pillars of Genshin Impact has been its characters and its open world, the lack of new zones has been a notable topic in its community.
Natlan and Nod-Krai have each introduced some of the best map expansions in Genshin Impactwith many players singing the praises of Ochkanatlan above all. While Genshin Impact has maintained the quality of its open world content, quantity is something it has struggled with in 2025. Neither version 6.1 nor version 6.2 will include a map expansion, and players will have to wait until January 14, 2026 to take their exploration of Nod-Krai further. However, according to a recent leak, this could change in the coming year.
Genshin Impact Leak Brings Bad News for Version 6.2
Genshin Impact looks to continue an unpopular trend in Nod-Krai that once started with Natlan urging players to hold on to their Primogems.
Genshin Impact may add a map expansion in version 6.4 and version 6.5
The information comes from Full Stop Chan, one of the most trusted voices in the Genshin Impact community, and it claims that version 6.4 will take players to Dornman Port, with version 6.5 introducing Hyperborea as a separate region on the map (similar to Enkanomiya). Assuming this is true, it would mean that 2026 would start with three map expansions in a row – as version 6.3 will debut the city of Piramida and Lake Amsvartnir. Curiously, the leak also mentions a future zone that is not yet tied to a specific update: Space of Asmoday. Considering Asmoday is the missing member of the Four Shades in Genshin Impactit is highly likely that this zone will only come into play at the end of Nod-Krai.
One thing to keep in mind is the upcoming cameo by Liben in Genshin Impact. Among other things, Liben has always teased upcoming content during his annual visits, and his datamined dialogue in version 6.2 mainly talks about Dornman Port. The last time Mondstadt received a map expansion in Genshin Impact was during the debut of Dragonspine in version 1.2. Dornman Port could be a brilliant opportunity for the developers to make a modern version of the game's oldest region, especially since Varka in Genshin Impact expected to make his game debut at the same time.
While Nod-Krai is inside Genshin Impact focusing primarily on Lunar Reactions, version 6.2 has introduced a gameplay feature unique to Mondstadt characters: Hexerei Rite. When two Hexerei characters are on a team, they each receive a powerful buff to their ability kit – allowing legacy 5-stars and 4-stars to remain competitive in the modern meta. With Varka, Alice, and Nicole all expected to join the playable cast in 2026, the Nod-Krai could really be setting the stage for a pivot to Mondstadt.
