Genshin Impact has revealed the full contents of its developer livestream for version 6.2, marking the debut of key characters like Alice and Nicole, as well as introducing the Hexerei Rite. While version 6.2 will not include a new map expansion, it will bring one of the most exciting changes to the game since the launch of Natlan: ability kit upgrades for some of the oldest characters in Genshin Impact.
Dubbed the Hexerei Rite, Genshin Impact players will be able to go through a quest line to improve certain characters from Mondstadt. This series of quests will be tailored for each character. Some enhancements are independent upgrades, such as with Venti and Klee, while others only take effect when two Hexerei characters are paired together. Version 6.2 will also introduce Durin to Genshin Impact as a playable character, and like his sibling, Albedo, he will also count as part of the Hexerei.

The live stream was hosted on Twitch and YouTube by the official Genshin Impact account, and among other things, it also revealed that players will be able to unlock an alternate skin for Durin by completing his Story Quest. Players will be able to pull for Durin during the first half of Event Banners, where he will play alongside Venti and Jahoda, while the second half will be headlined by Varesa and Xilonen. Unfortunately, there will be no Mondstadt Chronicled Banner i Genshin Impact under version 6.2.
In addition to his Hexerei buffs, Venti will debut a new Signature Weapon in version 6.2: The Daybreak Chronicles. Unlike his previous Signature Weapons, The Daybreak Chronicles is made with a hypercarry Venti in mind, and it will be on the weapons banner in Genshin Impact in the first half of version 6.2. The upcoming patch will also include a Hexerei selector, allowing players to obtain a copy of Fischl, Sakkaros, or Razor by completing the Witch's Coursework, a series of quests tied to the Hexerei rite.
It remains to be seen if Hexerei Rite is a precursor to other Mondstadt (or even Liyue) characters getting a glow, but it certainly means the HoYoverse is considering the idea. The flagship event for version 6.2 will take place in Natlan, and will give players a free 4-star bow for engaging in its mini-game. Liben will also make his annual appearance in version 6.2, teasing Dornman Port as an upcoming map expansion in Genshin Impact. Although not explicitly confirmed by the developers, rumors point to Dornman Port being the featured zone in version 6.4. Fans can expect version 6.2 to launch on December 3, 2025.
