Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has announced that Spongebob Squarepants The DLC will be added to the game on November 19, 2025. Also, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds revealed three more free characters that will be added to the racing roster in the near future.
Although many comparisons have been made between Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Mario Kart WorldSega's title has been much more focused on bringing in crossover characters from Sega games and other franchises entirely. While Mario Kart 8 Deluxe took over some additional Nintendo characters outside Mario the series itself, so far, Mario Kart World stuck with a kernel Mario throw.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Announces SpongeBob DLC Release Date and More
Sega has now revealed that players can get Spongebob Squarepants DLC begins on November 19, 2025 at 5 p.m. PT. The DLC will add SpongeBob himself and Patrick Star as playable racers, as well as a new Bikini Bottom track, a Patty Wagon vehicle, six emotes per character and spongebob-inspired music. DLC will be included as Wave 2 of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds season pass, and can also be purchased separately upon release.
While many fans are excited about spongebob crossover, there are also some free riders to look forward to before 2025 closes, and to welcome 2026. In December, NiGHTS will be added to the game as a new playable character alongside the Dream Sleeper vehicle. NIGHTS originated in the 1996 Sega game Nights into Dreamsand even though the series has only seen two full games, the character remains popular. In January 2026, the game will be added Super Monkey Balls AiAi as a playable character, who will arrive in a Banana Cruiser vehicle. The last message is that Sonic the characters Tangle and Whisper will be added as playable racers in February 2026. No vehicle was announced for the duo.
From the sounds of it, Sega fans have a lot to look forward to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The game will launch for Switch 2 before the end of 2025, which will likely introduce even more players to the title. While lacking exact release dates at the moment, Sega will also be adding DLC characters, tracks, and vehicles based on series and characters that Pac-Man, Mega manand more yet to be revealed. Sega has also asked players which characters they want added Sonic Racing: CrossWorldsso it seems likely that the game will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future, and will likely see even more fan favorite faces join the game.
