Shroud urges fans to vote for ARC Raiders GOTY over Clair Obscur

Popular streamer Shroud invites fans to vote for ARC Raiders for Game of the Year over the hugely popular Clair Obscur: Expedition 33want to collect multiplayer players. The “Game of the Year” award at the annual Game Awards has long stood as one of the most coveted awards in gaming, serving as the highlight of the annual show. The Game Awards has seen some of gaming's most beloved titles capture its top honor, with last year Astro Bot win the game of the year. Now, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 looks to be one of this year's leading figures.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has easily been one of the most critically acclaimed releases of the year, with the RPG garnering immense praise. Developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive, the game has been hailed as “revolutionizing” the turn-based RPG genre, with the game's combat and story receiving some of the biggest compliments from fans and reviewers alike. Clair Obscur has already become one of the biggest mentions for potential Game of the Year winners, with the annual awards ceremony still more than a month away. But a popular streamer is now pushing back against RPGs.

Shroud urges fans not to vote for Clair Obscur

Popular streamer Shroud urged fans not to vote Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for Game of the Year during a new stream. Shroud instead pushes for the fans to vote for ARC Raiders for Game of the Year, suggesting that The Game Awards unfairly skews its main prize towards single-player experiences. The streamer calls for multiplayer players to “gather,” suggesting that the multiplayer-oriented players are the “minority” of the voting public. Shroud even claims The Game Awards are “rigged”, urging fans to “not let that Expedition game win” the Game of the Year award.

Shroud's call to action comes as the streamer dives into the new multiplayer shooter from Embark Studios. ARC Raiders has already seen significant success following its launch in late October, with the game having more than 250,000 players on release day and receiving praise from fans and critics. ARC Raiders has already released its first post-launch update, with the 1.1.0 patch not only pushing several bug fixes but also adding a new “Hidden Bunker” event to the Spaceport map.

Although The Game Awards have yet to reveal their nominees for Game of the Year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 expected to be a lock for the nomination. Clair Obscur needed just three days to pass 1 million units sold, and the game passed the 5 million copies threshold in October. Clair Obscur is likely to face stiff competition in the Game of the Year category as well, with games like Hollow Knight: Silk Song and Hades 2 are also expected to be candidates for the award. The 2025 Game of the Year will be a hotly contested award between some of gaming's hottest new releases.
