Where to find a mandrake in PEAK (Cryptogastronomy Badge)

If you believed the achievements in TOP couldn't get weirder, the Roots update proves otherwise. Instead of climbing daring heights or surviving brutal storms, the new Cryptogastronomy Badge requires you to cook and eat a screaming plant called the Mandrake. This guide walks you through how to find, cook and safely eat a Mandrake to claim the Cryptogastronomy Badge in TOP.

Where to find a Mandrake in PEAK

First of all, you need to find a Mandrake. To do so, you need to reach the Roots biome, which is the new map introduced in the Roots update. Until November 17, 2025this biome is will definitely show up after the beachmaking it the best time to go Mandrake hunting before it rotates with the Tropics biome later.

Once you are in the Roots biome enter TOPstart searching bushes and soil patches for medicinal roots. These orange, plant-like objects grow in clusters and are usually used as healing resources. Sometimes, when you pull one out, you'll find a Mandrake. It looks almost identical to a medicinal root but has a creepy little face and immediately starts screaming as soon as you pull it out.

How to cook and eat a mandrake in PEAK

Once you have a Mandrake, it's time to cook it. The safest and easiest way to do this is with one Portable stovea common item found in the Shore biome. This stove allows you to cook anytime, anywhere.

It is best to have a portable stove if you aim to bring in this brand TOP. If you don't have one, you need to carry Mandrake to a campfire as quickly as possible. Campfires are usually found at the top of the biome or near checkpoints. Just be careful not to drop the Mandrake or faint on the way.

Once you have reached a safe cooking location, place Mandrake on the stove or campfire to fix it. Once done, eat the cooked Mandrake. Consuming it will instantly unlock the Cryptogastronomy Badge.
