This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen's Shinjuku Showdown.
The Shinjuku Showdown arc of JJK was truly phenomenal from start to finish. In this arc, fans got to see many powerful wizards take up arms against the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. Of course, against a disaster like Sukuna, survival was never a guarantee for any of the wizards.
Much to the readers' surprise, the vast majority of the great wizards who participated in the battle against Sukuna actually ended up surviving, and some of them even came back from death's door.
Kinji Hakari
A next generation Sorcerer Gem
Kinji Hakari was one of the biggest disappointments in JJK's Shinjuku Showdown arc for the fans, as he didn't get to play a major role. He spent the vast majority of the arc in a stalemate against Uraume and fans didn't get to see any of the major battles. At the end of the matter, Hakari simply watched his opponent disintegrate and he didn't even get to see Sukuna's face properly up close. That he survived is not a shock to any fan.
Hiromi Higuruma
Newly awakened talented wizard
Hiromi Higuruma's survival was certainly surprising to most fans, given that he was defeated by the King of Curses using World Splitting Dismantle. His survival was attributed to him being a magician of immense talent comparable to even Gojo.
Higuruma is indeed a very bright wizard and has a great future ahead of him. Although his contribution to the fight against the King of Curses was not great, he was still impressive in his own way.
Kusakabe
A powerful wizard of the first class
Kusakabe is certainly a weak wizard, but he was clearly established as the strongest wizard in the first class in the story during Shinjuku Showdown. Of course, at some point, he had to try his luck against Sukuna, and while he really impressed the fans, he still ended up falling to the King of Curses. Thankfully, he survived because of Ui Ui and the medical unit working overtime while the fight continued.
Maki Zenin
Next Toji Fushiguro
Maki Zenin made a great shift in the fight against Sukuna in Shinjuku Showdown. Not only did she stab his heart, but she kept him busy while Yuji Itadori continued to heal himself. Additionally, Maki took many of Sukuna's powerful punches, including two black lightning bolts.
She showed great resilience in this arc and ultimately managed to survive this battle thanks to the help of the other wizards around her.
Yuta Okkotsu
Gojo's own apprentice
Yuta Okkotsu came back from death's door in the battle against Sukuna. He was cut down by the King of Curses using World Splitting Dismantle, which is what killed Gojo. After Yuta was hacked to pieces, it was Rika who anchored him to the world, and later down the line he was seen transferring to Gojo's body while his main body healed.
Later, it was because of Rika that he was able to switch back to his own body, and fans were really happy to see him survive. Yuta made an incredible shift against Sukunaand without him the battle would certainly not have been won.
Yuji Itadori
The man who beat Sukuna
The main character of the series, Yuji Itadori also managed to survive the fight against Sukuna. It's safe to say that Yuji was one of the biggest contributors in this fight, given that he kept finding Sukuna despite all the odds. He awakened many incredible powers in this battle, and finally settled things within his own domain. Of course, Yuji had a lot of help in his fight, without which he would most certainly have died. But luck was on his side and he ended up killing Sukuna.
Yuji tapped into his true potential in this fight, and it has now been established in the story that he has the potential to equal Sukuna in power. Still, Yuji was far from that level at that moment and he would have had to train relentlessly for the next few years to actually progress to reach that level.
Megumi Fushiguro
The man with great potential
Megumi Fushiguro was marked for death when he was taken over by Sukuna. Had it not been for Yuji and the others, Megumi would have most likely died in the story. Thankfully, Yuji saw to that Megumi survived after he defeated Sukunaand his body was spared. Fans saw Megumi return after the end of the war, and it's safe to say that he is now stronger than ever before.
