This article contains spoilers from Demon Slayer Infinity Castle and Chainsaw Man.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle turned out to be a huge anime hit this year. Right after it was announced, fans were absolutely certain that it would continue to make waves and potentially even break the franchise's own box office records, and that's exactly what happened. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle exceeded all expectations and continues to do incredible numbers even now, months after its initial release. It goes without saying that Demon Slayer Infinity Castle deserves all the credit it can get for delivering what it did. But numbers don't always tell the whole story.
Just because Demon Slayer Infinity Castle has made the most money does not necessarily mean it is the best in terms of quality. The Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc dropped a few months later and proved to be a spectacle like no other. Although it is almost unfair to compare these two phenomenal films, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc deserves the love and respect which is largely overshadowed by Demon Slayer's numbers. In terms of quality, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc is, hands down, the better movie of the two and the best anime release of 2025.
Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc debuts with 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes
Fans Are Blown Away By Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc
-
Reze Arc is widely accepted as the best animated film of 2025

Better animation, better music, better writing
With US premiere of Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc As they get closer, fans are dying to know how this incredible film from Tatsuki Fujimoto has adapted one of the most beloved yet tragic parts of Chainsaw Man. To that end, fans now have a very clear answer. If countless reviews from those who have already seen it in other countries weren't enough, fans can only look at the fact that Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 100%, which is no small feat. It just goes to show that this movie is absolute perfection and nails every single aspect of the medium phenomenally well.
To appease the spirits of those it killed, and to ensure it takes no more victims, I will swing my blade down and mercilessly tear off the head of any demon! But I will not belittle those who regret their actions and suffer for the things they did as demons. Because demons were once human. Because they were like me.
Overall, Chainsaw Man has a more compelling story that resonates more with fans, and it has much better animation. In terms of animation, it's actually hard for any movie to compete with it. It also nails the music side of things, and the character writing from Tatsuki Fujimoto is absolutely second to none.

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Still Can't Beat Infinity Castle's Numbers at the Box Office
The Chainsaw Man Franchise is not as big as Demon Slayer
Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc may be the better film of the two, and most fans believe it is, but that still doesn't change the fact that it can't beat Demon Slayer's box office record. Demon Slayer is a cultural phenomenon nowever since the Mugen Train. It's a much bigger franchise than Chainsaw Man and it goes without saying that it will always be bigger and do higher numbers at the till.
Still, numbers don't always tell the whole story, and fans would do well to watch the footage and judge the footage for themselves. In the end, both films are an absolute joy to watch, even if they are two very different experiences. Fans are truly lucky to see two of the most amazing films in the same year. One can only hope that 2026 is as good for anime as 2025 was.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is out in theaters now. Fans who don't want to wait for the movies to release can check out the manga on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. However, the rest of the series will be animated into films, which fans will have to wait for the theatrical release to see, depending on their country.
