Naruto has officially been beaten by a new Gen Manga

Naruto is arguably one of the most iconic anime series ever. This ninja story went global years ago, and it goes without saying that it is one of the most watched anime of all time. Naruto is so large that, unsurprisingly, one of the best selling manga everwith over 250 million copies in circulation worldwide and 153 million in Japan alone. This is absolutely huge, but recently a new series that has taken the world by storm has beaten its domestic numbers, and that series is none other than Demon Slayer. With the massive success it achieved thanks to Infinity Castle, fans wouldn't be surprised to see it trump even Naruto's international numbers in the years to come.

When someone mentions Weekly Shonen Jump and major shonen series in general, Naruto is a series that immediately comes to mind. After all, when Naruto was serialized, it was a mainstay of Shonen Jump and is still actively talked about, even years after its end. Naruto's success is such that only a few other series have experienced it. With such success, Naruto is undoubtedly one of the best-selling series ever.

Total, Naruto ranks as the world's sixth best-selling manga ever, with 250+ million copies in circulation. In Japan, when it comes to Weekly Shonen Jump, it actually is 5th best seller, with around 153 million. This is very impressive, but fans were shocked to see that a series has recently overtaken Naruto in the domestic market.

Demon Slayer, a manga with only 23 volumes, has outsold Naruto in Japan and currently has 164 million sales, surpassed only by One Piece. This is massive, especially as Demon Slayer has achieved this feat with about a third of the volumes compared to Naruto.

Demon Slayer has already struck Naruto in the domestic market, but it hasn't quite broken the international record yet. However, it is getting closer and closer.

Naruto has an estimated 250 million copies in circulation worldwidewhile Demon Slayer reportedly has around 220 million. There is a gap of 30 million, which is still possible with the monumental film success Demon Slayer is experiencing. By the end of the 2020s, it will officially be decided whether Demon Slayer is greater than Naruto, worldwide, or not.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is out now. Fans who don't want to wait for the movies to release can check out the manga on Manga Plus. Meanwhile, for the anime, the series currently has 4 anime seasons. These anime seasons can all be found on Crunchyroll. However, the remaining part of the series will be animated into films, which fans will have to wait for the theatrical release to see, depending on their country.
