PS2 is one of the consoles where they nailed everything right. It was a successful console that increased the power of its predecessor with groundbreaking graphics. It still played CDs together with PS1 games via backwards compatibility, and it even worked as a cheap DVD player for a long time.
Best of all, the games because it was excellent, because PS2 had one of the biggest libraries of all time. Most of the best games are so top class that they even play well today on built -in hardware. They can play better with gates, remaster and remakes, but the sign of a quality game is to be able to enjoy it on the original hardware untouched. The range of the console's best games will contain a wide list of genres to avoid having a dominant list.
Final Fantasy 10
A pilgrimage without end
Final Fantasy 10 is an impeccable turn-based RPG that has been ported several times thanks to HD collections. That said, it's still fun on PS2, and some even prefer it over gates because it avoids new content like Dark Aeons.
The turn -based game was innovative because it allowed players to replace characters in the middle of the battle. Summon could be checked for the first time, and the story was brutally sad, but cordial. Best of all, its mini -game, blitzball, can be the best in the series.
War god
For Sparta!
War god Was something that PS2 had not seen before: a mature game that did not jump out on the action or spectacle. It also had a disgusting protagonist, Kratos, who was on an understandable journey for revenge. That said, it still did not justify any of his actions.
Love him or hate him, Kratos became a Playstation icon for many years to come, and his character eventually had a redeeming bow in the reboot 2018. There is also an HD collection that made it as far as PS3.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Takes back the streets
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Was the third and final main game in the series on PS2, and that was the biggest yet. Located in a new place, San Andreas, who is somewhere vague in California, players were able to roam the streets or countryside, which was also a new function. They could compare their character's skills, like to run faster and take over territories in gang war. There was also an HD version, which some fans did not like as much as this pure original taste, which still feels good to play today.
Kingdom Hearts 2
A slow start, but a strong finish
Kingdom Hearts 2 is technically the third game in the series, but it is the most important thing that drives the franchise forward. The original and this sequel are some of the nicest PS2 measures RPG to this day, which is why they cleaned so nicely in the different HD ports.
The hero, Sora, gained new forces, as the ability to go into different forms. The game's Disney Worlds was fresh, and the addition of Organization 13 gave the series an overall villain to fight against. The only thing some players had problems with was the beginning, which was slow, but it helped to set the tone.
Pixel Perfecing Fighting
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes Started in arcades, but the ports to consoles, such as PS2, are legendary. The game is widely available on modern consoles through various gates and collections, but the physical PS2 copy still sells at a high price.
It is simply the best battle game on PS2 thanks to its list of villains and heroes from Marvel and the Capcom universe. When it comes to visuals, Sprites will always be the test of time next to polygonal models.
Jungle -based stealth
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Have just received a proper new recording and have received different gates over the years, but the PS2 original is still legendary. No one will ever forget to hear “Snake Eater” blast after the virtuous mission, or the first time they drew a big false with camouflage.
There are many mechanics that made it especially for a stealth game on PS2, but perhaps the biggest heritage is known as one of the best prequels of all time. Big Boss really had a troubled past.
NBA Street Vol. 2
Three-to-three perfection
NBA Street Vol. 2 Is one of the best sports games on PS2, and it is still fun to play alone or with friends thanks to a solid foundation of mechanics. It simplified basketball just like Nba -jam did for consoles and arcades in the 90s. Three-three basketball in small street cans made it less of a spectacle. It also added a nice root to the sport with a fresh style, but unfortunately none of this original trilogy ever did it from the console.
Okami
Legend of Wolf
Okami

Okami was made to stand the test of the time thanks to its cel-shaded art style mixed with a watercolor aesthetic. It really looks better with its HD ports, but there is no reason why the PS2 game is inferior.
Set as one Zelda Adventure, players will explore a Blighted Fantasy Land of Japan as a wolf god that has to regain land and make it flourish again. Fun, action -filled and full of cool puzzles dungeons, some would even call it one of the best Zelda Games that Nintendo never did.
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
Leveling of platform players
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando Is the second game in the series, and it took the franchise to new heights. What started as a good platform player with inventive weapons turned into an RPG because Ratchet could now level up his health, and the weapon developed with Exp. It was the little extra spice that made everything nice, and the series has never gone back.
3D platform player can be difficult to keep timeless, but Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando Nailed everything the first time. Unfortunately, it only got an HD upgrade as far as PS3 and PS Vita.
Resident Evil 4
Evil knows no limits
Resident Evil 4 May have started in 2005 as a Gamecube game, but at the end of the year it got better via the PS2 port. It invented again Resident evil Formula with a new camera angle, a store system, another type of virus and Leon S. Kennedy gets a big makeover. The native Spanish -speaking infected brought an extra advantage to the horror, and the fans will never be able to sleep again without thinking about their moaning words. It can be enjoyed on the most modern hardware between HD remaster and remake.
