Borderlands 4 Had a fantastic story, but some fans may have additional questions about the action, some objects and character motivations that may stick harmless holes in the design. While Borderlands 4 is good, and its history was very funny, there is nothing wrong with a deeper dive in some tasks that deserve further elaboration, so we have compiled moments and threads from Borderlands 4Main campaign that we think did not make sense and could have used further explanations.
Big spoilers forward for Borderlands 4!
The notifications below are intended for conversation around Borderland 4, and do not offer any toxic discourse around the writing team behind the game.
Where is the crew on Sanctuary 3?
Sanctuary 3 had iconic characters just gone?
Amara has been stuck on Cairos for several years, since Sanctuary 3 crashed here. There have been some named survivors, such as Moxxi, Zane and even genive, but what about the other characters? Vault Hunters Like Moze is mentioned, but has never seen or referenced outside an ecologist, and Marcus just seems to be involved as a storyteller instead of as the money-observed and weapons-greedi seller. There are so many characters from Borderlands 3 that is absent from Borderlands 4And although it is good that the campaign is not over-saturated with these crazy and over-the-top characters, it is strange that the fate of the Sanctuary 3 crew is never really explained. Sure, the Crimson Raiders are investigating the galaxies in search of Lilith, but does that mean that only about 3 people were aboard Sanctuary 3? It seems unlikely.
How will Timekeeper not just use the bolts to kill everyone?
Bolts are used to oppress the people, but why care?
The timekeeper does not do much of anything except to protect his vault on Cairos. That is his sole purpose, and he is structured the planet and its hidden nature around this particular purpose. The time holding is so valuable to the vault that free will seem invalid with the use of bolts, implants that allow him to look at and control all his citizens. These bolts, however, seem to be the easiest way for the timekeeper to maintain their order. Since Cairos is hidden for the galaxies (before Elpis crashed here), would it certainly be more meaningful for the timekeeper to just use the bolts to kill everyone? It is not as if he has a connection to the people here, and he does not seem at all interested in being a leader, more so a dictator who looks at everyone, but he can easily just kill the entire planet to stop people who come for the vault.
Would anyone as smart and immortal as Zadra do not make backups?
The smartest woman at Cairos certainly had a plan outside a computer café
Zadra was the smartest woman at Cairos, and she is integrated into the oppression of the people of Cairos. Zadra's genius helped Timekeeper maintain order for centuries, as she had the design that built the order the troops, and she was responsible for the creation of the bolt. Zadra left the timekeeper years ago and has been hiding ever since. With his constant need to stay away from Cairo's politics and her quest to remain away from the watchful look of the timekeeper, had Zadra certainly had a better plan than killing himself? Zadra would use fast travel stations and backup facilities to stay safe, so why didn't she keep copies of her mind as Ville Lictor did? She is smart, so a lack of a security plan seems to be a deficiency on her part, especially when her dying plan was to reveal a password for a computer terminal when she could only have returned with her brilliant technology.
Arjay's evil motivations and fate
Will it have consequences to create a siren by manipulating the phase?
Arjay just wanted to become a hero, a vault hunter who liberated Kairos from the timekeeper. That was before Vault Hunter killed him, and Vile Lictor ran twisted experiments on him to make him a siren. Arjay's motivations and tragedy made him the perfect catalyst for a stellar villain, especially since he is an artificial siren with phases in the phase. Unfortunately, Arjay is ultimately reduced to just another psycho with forces. Certainly there was more to Arjay other than being driven by revenge against the arch hunters. Certainly Arjay must have seen something in the phase that made his mission noble to himself, even though it was murderous. There must be more for Arjay and repercussions for the universe to create a new siren outside the natural order of things.
What happened to the people in Elpis and Great Vault?
Can the destroyer never wake up?
Due to Callis Moon-Maddened State, she sent Elpis on a collision course with Cairos so that everyone could face one last death. Fortunately, Lilith returned to prevent Elpis from destroying Kairos, simply by destroying the moon itself. But it leaves many questions. Since Elpis is just gone, dried from existence, does that mean that the people in Elpis are also all dead? Some iconic people lived on Elpis. Outside this, what happens to Pandora? Pandora contains the destroyer, and Elpis was the key to arousing the destroyer. Does that mean that the destroyer can never wake up, or was killed the destroyer because of the merger with Tyreen in Borderlands 3?
What should the vault hunters do to prevent the universe from dying?
The great war has been teased forever, but can fists and weapons win it?
The Great War has been constantly teased at the end of Borderland Then play Before the sequenceAnd each time the efforts are up, with characters saying that we need every vault hunter to stop what is coming. But … what's coming? It has been years at this time, and it does not seem like we are closer to finding out who the great war will be opposed, where it takes place and what the efforts are other than the fact that the universe in some way dies out. But if a war is strong enough to destroy the galaxies, how can a vault hunter whose gimmick punch things on the face or call an animal being and will make a difference? Of course, outside the game, it is likely that the sirens will be the most important thing for this war.
So … what is in the vault of the timekeeper?
Did the vault have a future Lilith or a future that is still written?
The time holding has protected the vault for a millennium, and maybe more, does that mean that the mysterious siren inside has been there for so long? Means that lilith (we can assume it's lilith she calls us “killer“) Has been caught here and waiting for freedom, and if so why does she just explode to a new star just so we can leave? It is strange that outside four red chests, the vault contains a mysterious object that will be important in the future, along with a view that the great war is coming. The content is a strange way, and just time will tell you what it means.
