It is not exactly new to point out that one of the most valuable assets of the indie scene is its ingenuity. Squires like Who is purpleThe Changeand Mun brushing Would probably never have been done if not for the unrestricted creativity of indie developers, whose ideas are often a little too Outland or scary for AAA money. Upcoming Indie Harmony of Aotheria I look to continue this trend with creative excellence through a thought -provoking touch of talk no jutsu, as it was.
Talk No Jutsu (Art of Talking) is a concept coined by Naruto Creator Masashi Kishimoto, and refers to a character's trope that uses nothing but speech to change their opponent's behavior. In other words, it's a nice anime term for junk talk, something that Naruto likes is more than familiar with. On the one hand, the formalization of such a genre -booklet can be seen as a little stupid, or so a little more than a nod to the audience, but there is a case to do that talk no Jutsu is more than that. Words are a form of magic, known for anger, inspire, amuse or scare their goals. This is what Harmony of Aotheria Trying to channel, as seen in a recently revealed game exhibition.
Harmony of Aetheria aims to make dialogue an important part of the battle
The pen is as powerful as the sword in harmony of Aetheria
In a post shared by developer Chill Dragon Games on Reddit, the dialogue mechanics of Harmony of Aotheria described as to be like 'Mass effectBut you actually talk to enemies during combat.” Harmony of AotheriaThe trailer trailer shows how this works in practice: the game plays as a traditional third person action-brewler, but the player can throw insults, threats, logic and more on his enemies in the midst of fights. Depending on a number of factors, these dialogue exchanges may upset, crush or scare the enemy. Some of these results can change the course for a given battle, says Chill Dragon Games.
Based on the Reddit thread in question, Chill Dragon Games seems to be a solo developer.
The mechanics of this dialogue system are only briefly exposed in the Reddit post and subsequent comments, but Chill Dragon Games paints a promising image. For example, the developer noted that a manager's rage, depicted in the trailer, can be filled as a result of throwing insults and other unpleasant comments, and that after filing this meter, the manager will turn into a “Fire Golem.” Fire Golem poses a greater threat, but will also provide a greater reward in defeat.
This example meets gestures against great ambitions for the dialogue system, as it can theoretically deepen the game through complex risk reward mechanics, relatively a given manager or enemy. Chill Dragon Games has noted that this feature is very much ongoing work and that there are plans to add voice games and other improvements.
Although it is humble, harmony of Aetheria may break new ground
Chill Dragon Games is far from an established studio and as mentioned earlier it seems to be either a one-person operation or a small team. But if in recent years have taught players something, it is not to underestimate humble beginning. Stardew Valley and Maintenance are both solo projects and phenomena all over the world as the impossibly successful Hollow knight Games have come from similarly Lean Studios.
If done correctly, Harmony of AotheriaDialogue -infused battle can be something really unique. Fighting and dialogue options are two of the oldest video games, so it's just a sense to try to digest them. Here, Chill Dragon hopes -plays the landing.
