Pokemon TCG cards that used to be valuable and lost their price

There are many ways to enjoy collecting the cards in Pokémon TCG, and when you draw one of the big hit cards, many see to quickly sell them to further finance their booster-opening habits. TCG has some ridiculously high -priced cards that we all wish we could afford, but some do not always keep their price.

Fortunately, for our wallets, hype can die behind some cards, and they return at a more reasonable price. Not even the most popular cards are safe from reducing their value from being worth more than a modern artwork to less than a single boosterbox.

These cards price history has been taken from the price survey, and we have specifically chosen cards that were once a chase card from their set but then have lost in price considerably.

Iron Crown Ex: Temporal Forces (Special Illustration Rare, 206)

Underrated, but that's good

Iron Crown-Ex (Special Illustration Rare, 206) from the set temporary forces in Pokemon TCG.

Temporary forces, even though they had some wonderfully beautiful ancient and future paradox pokemon cards along with the reintroduction of ACE specifications, was one of the Skarlakansröda & Violet -As most forgetful extensions. The best part of Paradox Special Illustration Rares is how they all have a distinct appearance and this iron crown, for example, deserves their crown.

Originally went for about $ 130 at publication, this card was one of the many beautiful highlights in why the set was a collector's dream and now, fortunately, that price has slowly decreased when we enter the future. Temporary forces are underestimated, but we do not complain because it made this fantastic card reach a price as low as $ 40 and our wallets thank it.

Miriam: Scarlet & Violet (Special Illustration Rare, 251)

New era, new expensive cards

Miriam (Special Illustration Rare, 251) card from the basic set of Scarlet & Violet from Pokemon TCG.

Scarlet & Violet -era introduced a bunch of now staple mechanics and rarities to TCG, which saw the continued increase in the popularity of the game as well as short prices. Scarlet & Violet's base set was a massive shift and with that came many cards that everyone wanted to get hold of, including this wonderful Miriam Special Illustration Rare.

Usually, supporter cards are some of the cheaper cards, but with the introduction of special illustration rare versions they finally got their chance to shine. This miram at the release went for over $ 200; In just a couple of months, however, the voltage for enlargement disappeared, which caused the card's price to sink and reach as low as $ 20.

Theraphagos Ex: Stellar Crown (Special Illustration Rare, 170)

Modern works of art may also lose value

Theraphagos Ex (Special Illustration Rare, 170) from the set of Crown of the Pokemon TCG.

As a source of terastalization, therapy has become a star in the Pokemon series and TCG has given it more love than the games ever done. As the focus of the expansion stellar crown, this therapy's ex -card was once a chase card and with high desire will, of course, a high price with what costs over $ 100.

This card has some of the most wonderful art in Scarlet & Violet era, and we are happy that it is no longer worth a whole week's food value to afford. Although it was still largely played in competitive format, this special illustration has now embedded around $ 32, and with it seemingly on a downward nail, it can even go lower.

Eevee Ex: Prismatic Evolutions (Special Illustration Rare, 167)

The prismatic curse

Eevee Ex (Special Illustration Rare, 167) from the Set Prismatic Development of Pokemon TCG.

While the entire prismatic development was about Eevee and its Eevee lines stole a specific evolution all the limelight, which left the poor Eevee himself to remain. During the publication, the set had some of the most inflated prices that TCG has ever seen because of how impossible it was to get hold of thanks to the influx of scaling that happened.

This wonderful Eevee ex originally went for almost $ 200 and managed to keep its value for a couple of months before it came crashing down. Now only half of that price and that seems to be even lower, this card is just one example of how prismatic developments were over -skinned and too big for their own Britches because many short share exactly the same story as this one.

Iono: Palda Evolution (Special Illustration Rare, 269)

Iono (Special Illustration Rare, 269) from the set of Palda was developed by Pokemon TCG.

Supporter cards always have as beautiful art as Pokemon, but unfortunately they are just never worth anywhere close to so much. It is unless you have the electrical personality that Iono does. Gym Leader -Streamer, Iono, is one of Scarlet & Violet's most popular characters and her card made TCG history by blasting as no other card ever has.

In Japan, this card exploded in value and the western edition seemed to follow it in a more controlled way. While sold for over $ 1,000 in Japan, it reached only $ 127 in its English pressure. Both versions of the card have now fallen to $ 300 and $ 45, respectively, due to more interesting Iono cards being released, making this less special.

ESPEON EX: Prismatic Evolutions (Special Illustration Rare, 155)

Also known as better umbreon ex

Espeon Ex (Special Illustration Rare, 155) from the Set Prismatic Development of Pokemon TCG.

Prismatic developments were a tough time for real TCG fans when millions flocked to the hobby for a chance to earn fast cash. This special set was not good because of this and many of the cards had inflated prices for a while. For example, with this Espeon Ex, which originally went for over $ 375, but fortunately the Eevee fever died and now it is worth less than $ 200.

Unlike his nightly counterpart Umbreon, this Espeon ex -card did not have the whole world to burn with people who tried to pull it. While the Moon-Breon Ex-card continues to rise in price, this card provides as amazing art for just a fraction of the price because you do not have an army of sweaty scalpers that hypers it as the second arrival of Poke-christ.

Lillie's Clefairy Ex: Journey Together (Special Illustration Rare, 184)

Too cute for our wallets to handle

Lillie's Clefairy Ex (Special Illustration Rare, 184) from Pokemon TCG's canceled trip together.

The owner's pokemon is one of the best gimmicks for collectors of TCG, with coaches and their Pokémon on a single card. A coach is consistently more love than anyone else and it is Lillie from Alala. This young shy girl is a favorite and with the return of the owner's Pokémon in Journey Together we got this amazing card with her and her iconic Clefairy.

This briefly formed to follow the price of its Japanese printed by being one of the most sought after modern cards, but thankfully Journey Together was not only a fair set to withdraw, but also had less scalps tension around it. This caused the bubble on this card to appear shortly after it was released, which reduced it from over $ 340 to a consistently $ 130, which it has remained.

Charizard VMAX: Shining Fates (Shiny Vault Rare, SV107)

One of the few unwanted charizard cards

Charizard VMAX (Shiny Vault Rare, 107) from the set that shines fate for Pokemon TCG.

Surprisingly, even titanium with expensive cards can lose value and while most of Charizards Scarlet & Violet -Ara -cards climb to ridiculously expensive heights, Sword & Shield has some DUD. This shiny charizard VMAX was once worth almost $ 400 but can now barely even sell for $ 100 despite the presented Scalper's favorite Pokemon.

At the speed that the Charizard cards are pumped out, some of them end up as nothing too special. Although this card is both a shiny and a charizard card, it comes from the special set, Shining Fates, which quickly went from being exciting to being unwanted together with their underwhelming cards.

Gardevoir Ex: Scarlet & Violet Base Set (Special Illustration Rare, 245)

Surprisingly did not go up in value

Gardevoir (Special Illustration Rare, 245) card from the basic set by Scarlet & Violet from Pokemon TCG.

This card is part of a affiliated artwork where a ralt grows up with the coach shown in this work of art, and it is such a beautiful set of cards that surprisingly is not worth an arm and a leg. Scarlet & Violet's basic set was a huge change for TCG and this fantastic Gardevoir Ex -card was one of its many highlights and at the launch this card could sell for over $ 100.

This card not only has one of the most popular Pokémon in TCG, but it has also seen success in competitive formats, even won the 2025 World Championship. Despite this, the price has only dropped over time. This special illustration has reached lowness of less than $ 20, making it sufficiently affordable to include several in your tire.

Pikachu Ex: Surging Sparks (Special Illustration Rare, 238)

Is pushed aside by Eevee

Pikachu Ex (Special Illustration Rare, 238) from the SPARKS OF THE POKEMON TCG.

This card was once all the rage, was the Defacto Chase card from growing sparks that everyone and their parents wanted to draw. Pikachu has been the face of some valuable cards, where some people even collect each of these lovely mascot's cards, but this one is just down wonderful and society went wild for it.

When growing Sparks sank, this card went for $ 465, which is on par with modern gems from other sets. But after prismatic developments, this amazing, once valuable cards was made significantly less, and dropped its price by over $ 200. It is still valuable but only an echo of the value that it once contained as one of the most sought after cards in the era.
