Sucker Punch's Nate Fox has confirmed that Ghost of YoteiS main character, ATSU, will have no relationship with Jin Sakai, the central figure of Ghost of Tsushimaput a stop to a popular Fankeori. Speculation about a possible hidden link between ATSU and Jin began after the fans noticed a Sakai -clan helmet in a new Ghost of Yotei Gameplay Showcase, fuel hope for a concrete connection between the two characters. However, Fox's clarification makes it clear that ATSU's journey and Jin's legacy will remain completely separate, no matter how much players may otherwise wish.
Although Sucker Punch has remained adequacy to tell a new story with Ghost of Yotei It is unloaded by past events, fans have always kept hope that Jin would make a recurring in some small capacity. A family connection between Jin and ATSU was the most likely thread that tied the two together, but that opportunity has now been rested.
Ghost of Yoteis Atsu will have no connection to Jin
During a quick fire issue interview with Youtube Channel Minnmaxx, Ghost of YoteiThe Creative Director, Nate Fox, confirmed that ATSU has no ties to Jin and does not even know about the villain Samurai's existence. When you are pressed on if Jin can still remember as a legend in the world of Ghost of YoteiFox chose to avoid the question while playfully mimicked a sip from his cup and kept things deliberately ambiguous. He later confirmed that Jin is a “literal ghost” in YoteiSuggest that if he is a legend, it is one that is not widely known.
Fox was also asked which of Ghost of Tsushimatwo stops being treated as cannon in Yotei. “It's 300 years plus later. Both endings are valid,” he explained and confirmed that the studio keeps things open. This also makes sense from a historical perspective. It is quite natural for two regions to remain isolated, especially since there is a significant distance between Tsushima and Ezo, or today's Hokkaido, Japan, where the upcoming sequel takes place.
Overall, the interview suggests that Jin will get some to no mention Ghost of Yotei. At most, his name or similarity may appear as an Easter egg, but nothing more significant than that. An uncertain fate for Jin may not be what fans want, but that is what they will get. Regardless, Ghost of YoteiThe story forms to be something special on its own. Teaser trailers and feature films that have been released so far paint an incredible picture of what the future has for fans, and with a confirmed release date on October 2, the wait is almost over.
