Jujutsu Kaisen Modulothe warmly expected spin-off to the extremely popular Jujutsu KaisenHave finally released its very first chapter, and it is fair to say that this story is forming to be a pretty interesting one. With the talented manga author Gege Akutami back in the driver's seat, fans of the original series will find much to love here, especially with the new sci-fi aesthetic, which gives this series a very different feeling from what came before. Although this spin-off has done a good job so far to stand on its own as something new and unique, there are still some references that have already been dropped, which relates to another popular manga that is still going on in the Shonen jump.
Although these Easter eggs can be very easy to miss, there is no doubt that eagle -eyed fans would have picked them up as soon as they appeared on the side, especially if they are fans of a certain straw -hat protagonist. The first chapter in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Is full of exciting characters and Lore who have been the center of discussions online in recent days, but it is time to look at the small and subtle references made for another well -known series, A bit.
Shanks give their straw hat to Luffy
The iconic moment can barely be seen on a page early in the chapter
-
A manga panel in the first chapter is a clear reference to a paragraph
-
A piece of fans will immediately recognize this emotional exchange between Shanks and Luffy
Near the beginning of the chapter, fans are introduced to two new characters working together to take down a horde skeleton as part of a video game at rails. While the scene is obviously designed to give the fans a clear idea of who these individuals are, and how they are related to each other, there is a very small image in the corner of the page that will immediately be recognized for anyone who has read or seen Eiichiro ODA: S A bit. This is not just a picture either, as it is actually one of the most iconic moments from the series, although readers will have to sketch their eyes a bit to find out what exactly happens on the page.
If fans look to the right of the young boy's knee, they will see a small group of manga volumes sprayed across the floor, one of which is wide open. When you look closely, the page shows a figure, which is clearly intended to resemble shanks and place a straw hat on top of the head of a young monkey D. Luffy. Although the picture is not full of details, it is very meaningful considering that it is only meant to be a very small and subtle reference, but regardless, it is still nice to see Gege give some credit to a writer he has always considered a close friend and rival.
“This hat means a lot to me. Promise you will give it back to me when you become a big pirate” – Shanks to Luffy
This scene of Shanks and Luffy occurs in particular very early in A bit story and mainly acts as the moment where Luffy officially starts its pirate trip. Many people see this scene as a passing of the torque, where the extremely powerful and influential shafts surrender their most appreciated possession to Luffy, which he believes will one day become the king of the pirates. This is already a pretty exciting Easter egg to watch out for, but this chapter actually contains another A bit Reference that will be a little more obvious to fans of the deadly swords called Zoro.
Tsurugi borrows Zoros training exercise
Straw Hat Swordsman's Brutal Training Technique has been replicated by a magician
A little later in the chapter, one of the new jujutu trolls begins to be known that Yuka reflects on Tsurugi and how strong he has become over the years. While fans are only given a small insight into Tsurugi's training regiment, the exercise is that he can be seen to perform very similar to the one used by the sword man in the Straw Hat crew, Zoro. As with Zoro, this method seems to have made Tsurugi incredibly strong from a physical perspective, which would be expected when considering how brutal it is on the person's body.
Tsurugi can be seen swinging a stick that has been wrapped with gigantic metal frames, which allows him to easily hone his body and physical strength to exercise regular swords and leaves. This technology was actually used first by Zoro, who has been discovered countless times who performed exactly the same action with an absurdly large set of steel plates wrapped around his weapon chosen, so that he can exercise his three swords much easier when it is time to take down a dangerous enemy.
“I will never lose again!” – Zoro
Of course, anyone could try this exercise for themselves if they can gather courage, but it is most associated with Zoro from A bitGiven that he is the one who made it so popular. Although it definitely looks pretty scary to pull off, one thing is certain, if it helped to turn Zoro into the unstoppable monster he is today, there is no doubt that there will be no doubt to hold up this training method to do wonders for tsurugi in the long term.
Previous references in a bit in jujutsu kaisen
Gege is not shy to share his love for ODA's work
-
Gege has referred to a piece earlier, especially Luffy
-
Eiichiro Oda has had a massive influence on all modern manga writers
On the surface, Jujutsu Kaisen and A bit May seem like completely different series when it comes to their style, characters and stories. But given that Oda has published A bit Since the end of the 90s, it is only inevitable that most modern manga writers would at least take some inspiration from what has become one of the most popular fiction work in history, resulting in a handful of other A bit References scattered across the original Jujutsu Kaisen Manga like some fans may have missed.
For example, there is a panel at the beginning of the Shibuya incident arc showing a gigantic amount of people who all come together to participate in the festivities. Hidden away on the right side of the page is a curious about pirate with a straw hat that sits above the head. It is obvious that this is supposed to resemble Luffy, but since the panel does not actually show his face, it means that readers have to look extra hard to discover him.
Although it is obvious that Whiten served as the biggest source of inspiration for Gege when writing JJKHe has still made sure to release a sneak reference here and there as a way to express his admiration for the straw hat pirates, which he would undoubtedly be very familiar with. The fact that two references have been dropped in the very first chapter in the new series indicates that Gege may be a little more willing to show some of his influences to his audience as part of the story, so while A bit May have been referred to this time, readers can only imagine what other series can be shown in the future.
