According to the official Fortnite status account on Twitter, there was a problem with Xbox V-Buck's repayment function between December 2024 and July 2025; During this time, if players refunded V-bucks, they would get their money back, but V-bucks were not removed from their account. Skin and other cosmetics were only deleted if a player hit a negative V-buck balance to compensate for this value. This issue escalated to the point where they sold repaid V-bucks at a cheap price and gift items to other players. In these situations, players who did not directly ask for a repayment were affected but who were favored by this error by this removal.
The V-Bucks balance should have been updated immediately, which is why Epic Games is taking the indication for this incident.
