Just a few days after the last Fremont leaks submitted Valve in a new Steam Brand, which many believe may be the official name of the company's rumored competitor for home console. Steam's parent company, Valve, also works with several video -playing hardware projects, which makes this new business move even more exciting.
According to recent leaks and speculation, Valve can develop at least three new gaming units, the code name Deckard, Roy and Fremont. Deckard is believed to be a next gene-VR headset, a sequel to the valve index. Roy seems to be a new controller -Design, reportedly intended for Deckard. And Fremont is believed to be a “PC box” aimed at competing with current general consoles.
Valve's rumored PC box can be called 'Steam Frame'
On September 3, legal documents revealed that Valve submitted two instances of the brand “Steam Frame”: one for computer gaming consoles and another for computer machine and peripherals. This caused many to believe that steam frame can be the official name of the rumored unit previously called Fremont. With the support of this theory, a new Geekbench leak revealed the specifications for upcoming valve gaming machine, with delicious suggestions that it will be a TV-focused device built around the core structure for a gaming computer. Many now believe that the leaks and the new brand are probably connected.
Another theory is that Valve can use steam frame as an umbrella name for its gaming ecosystem, reportedly to include a new unit, a set of control units and a next gene VR headset. Some also suggest that “RAM” would suit a virtual reality headset, making steam frame a probable title for the rumored Valve index sequel. It is also possible that the company may never use this brand, as it previously did with Neon primeas later changed to Deadlock. Technical companies often archive brands without ever applying them to products, and Valve is no exception.
Anyway, the timing of Valve's movement is remarkable. Microsoft enters the handheld market with its upcoming Rog Xbox Ally, Playstation 6 is rumored to have a hand -held edition with docking support, and Nintendo Switch 2 already dominates much of the handheld market. With all these companies that seem to be aimed at Valve's market share, it makes sense for Valve to respond with a PC-based unit that can compete with home consoles. In the coming months, it will be interesting to see Valve's plans for the Steam Frame brand and if it binds to the rumored Fremont unit.
